Is it normal for a highschooler to go bald?

This is my brothers first year of highschool, and he introduced me to this friend who I have never met before. He is a ninth grader, who recently dyed his hair black. I don't know what color it was before. but when he turns around it looks like he is going bald.
Was this caused by him dying his hair, or does it just look like he is bald, but really he isn't?
Is it even possible to become bald in ninth grade?

    It's your brother's first time in 9th grade, maybe it's his friend's 27th..?

Yeah I've seen it before. If I were a guy and this happened to me, I'd do what my uncle did and shave my head. Looks a lot better than that Ring of Denial of hair around the head.

It's probably male-pattern baldness. Patrick Stewart lost all of his hair when he was 19. Maybe your friend is like him.

My brother's best friend at school developed alopecia after falling out of a tree and was pretty much bald from the age of six.

  • I knew a guy who was balding and he was in the 11th grade. You could tell from old profile pictures that he was balding even before it got bad. :(
