Is it normal for a man my age (55) to forget things constantly?

I'm always forgetting things. It happens at home, and sometimes affects my work. For example, I work for a supermarket where they post work schedules online. I have
my work schedule set up where they can only schedule me
either Tuesdays or Thursdays. More than once, I have showed up for work on the wrong day (much to the anger of management). They think I'm mentally retarded or something,
and often have a big laugh about it. I try to organize and remember things, but I often forget. Sometimes I even forget
which way I'm going. Is this normal?

It's called 'old timer's disease' and it's a great excuse for doing and saying whatever the fuck you please without feeling guilty.
Fuck em all, if they can't take a joke!

I read that writing things down on paper makes your brain store the information differently and makes it easier to retrieve on demand. I use this method for many years and always carry a notepad and pencil. I also keep one in my truck. At least that way, if you forget a date or whatever, all you have to do is reference your notes.
It works. That's why cops do it.

Oh yeah, cops are so reliable, aren't they?????

If OP has memory problems, he may not remember where his written reminders are or remember to look at them.

I didn't say cops were reliable just that they take notes to make reporting on an incident as accurate as possible. I should not have used that analogy. Next time I will try to find one you like, without cops in it.
I think you might be caught in an infinite loop in the second paragraph :-)

I was meant to demonstrate the infinite loop of forgetfulness!

And no, I don't trust cops or their "reports": they've caused me too much trouble in the past and still are with their general stupidity and illiteracy

You may be correct. It may require a brain transplant to repair the problem but neurosurgery isn't my strong suit so I stuck with what I had some knowledge of.
I'm sorry to hear that the constabulary are causing you grief.

Little hint: maybe you should write your work schedule down?

That doesn't work because they will probably lose it...multiple times.
      Am I right?

Are you on some prescription medication that might have forgetfulness as a possible side effect?

You might severely depressed. You're too young to be senile.

Maybe it's something worse but either way it's worth looking into.

Not too young for early onset dementia but yeah, could be depression and should be checked out

Your brain is dissolving into a liquid and being absorbed by your blood stream. Soon your skull cavity will contain nothing but blood.
