I had to vote no. I'm NOT saying it's not effective but those type of punishments can carry SERIOUS psychological ramifications. I'm 63 & can WELL remember the 'special punishments' for us kids(mostly boys) back then when we were caught masturbating.

I don´t know if it´s normal in general, but it was normal in our family. For showing any kind of disrespect towards women or girls, or fighting or arguing with my one of my sister my mother slapped my balls. First it's not normal to intentionally strike your kid's testicles. It is child abuse and is probably illegal.
