Is it normal for a politician to be this desperate

Something very weird happened just 15 minutes ago. I was watching tv, when my girlfriend called me, saying there is some guy in a suit at the door. She couldn't understand him, cause she doesn't speak German that well, so I went to have a look. It was a politician. Some dork from CSU doing a campaign handing over band aids (bandages) to people, claiming he will "mend" Germany... I politely told him to go away and that was the end of it.

And that got me thinking... What sort of wacko goes around door to door, handing out free bandages so people vote for him?! What happened to billboards, kissing babes, shaking hands and all that PR goodness...
Have any of you experienced anything like this?

On the upside, I did get six free band aids XD

    id only vote for a politician who gave out free liquor and shakes babies while kissin hands

      Did a cross check on the guy... Name comes out clean, he looks like the politician he claims to be and lives in my town. But still, it's a really weird way to attract voters...
