Is it normal for a teacher to be harsh and cold to me?

The title/subject is lame, I'm sorry.

There is this 28 year old teacher who had acquired a job at my high school last year. I didn't know him because he was in a hallway I never passed by. This year, they relocated him to a hallway I constantly pass by, so I see him constantly. I never really cared for him in the first place, but I hear a lot of girls talking about him and how he is really cute. Anyway...

During the second semester, I was in the library and he was teaching a class over there (you can reserve the computers for your class). I didn't think much of it, but then I looked up and found him staring at me. I look past me and find that he truly was staring at me from only a few aisles down. I'm not trying to make it sound romantic, in fact, I was really nervous.

My history teacher is right across from his room, and sometimes I would stay after school to finish up a test or something. One day, this young teacher came in and asked my history teacher a question, he glanced at me, then did a double take - so I smiled and his reaction was to glare. I was shocked by this, since he had no reason to glare at me. Just a few weeks ago he was...not glaring at me, I suppose.

He continued this glare game and it was becoming annoying. I thought he was being immature and he made it obvious this glaring was directed at me.

During an annual elective Q&A at the end of the year, my history teacher recommended a class for me to take up the upcoming year. Coincidently, it was this young teacher's. I don't know why, but I started talking to him about the elective he was teaching. He was extremely shy and he was barely audible, the weird thing however, was that he was able to keep strong eye contact. His class was not of my priority, so I politely excused my way out. But I felt his stare as I walked away. And I was able to find him shamelessly staring at me from a few tables away. Even my friend caught him in the act and was concerned.

I started talking to him because I needed help for my end of the year project - in my defense, I actually had to talk to all of the teachers of the subject he was teaching. He was still shy, and he was polite and helpful. I just wanted to grab him and yell, "what's the deal?!!" I don't understand why he would be so cold and so harsh, but become this excellent human being once I started talking to him.

So what gives? ):
I'm sorry this was a long post.
thank you for your time and patience. <3

  • Why do you have to know? Especially if you are not going to be taking his class?

I think that you are the one that is obsessed with him and maybe it makes him feel uncomfortable around you.

    • It is inevitable that he glares, and wouldn't it bother your/wouldn't you like to know why someone you barely know glares at you? If anything, he makes me uncomfortable and I can't stop thinking about how uncomfortable he makes me.

      • No, I wouldn't react like you have.

I'd think, "Well, fuck you too." and then I'd start thinking about someone else.

You say that He "makes" You feel uncomfortable. But that's untrue because no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

Sounds like he has a thing for you and is embarrassed that he got caught looking. At least he has the sense to know he's inappropriate else he wouldn't have been embarrassed.

Some people are not award of their body language and don't often smile ...his staring means that he is interested in you in some way...
