Is it normal for a therapist to debunk anger issues?
Last week I went to my therapist for our weekly meeting. We ended up on the topic of anger. I do know that I have anger issues. Whenever I get angry, I snap and will yell, throw things, shut people down, and I want to hurt other people, literally. I don't mean that I just get mad and fume a little. I actually feel like I lose control.
My therapist told me that I don't have anger issues, but that I just have anger. I tried to explain to her the difference and she refused to accept it and just continued to tell me that all the things I did were normal. I don't agree with that.
Is this normal for a therapist to try to force that idea into my head even though it isn't true?
