Is it normal for an atheist to be turned on by becoming catholic?

I've been an atheist for most of my life but, after falling in love with a practicing Catholic woman (we're engaged), the idea of converting to Catholicism is a turn-on for me. I realize that, as an atheist, I can't honestly convert so, instead, I go to Church with her and really get into all the rituals, except for taking Communion which would not only be a sin, but would be highly disrespectful. I like that she believes in all that it takes to be Catholic, though she does have sex with me and, as a result, I've been able to convince her not to take Communion either (as sex out of marriage is also a sin).

But I really get off on the idea of being converted or, at the least, practicing her faith with her.

Don't do it. If you practice, you will eventually believe. Do you really want to shut down half of your brain?

You're right. I've been practicing her Catholic faith and find myself starting to prefer believing to not believing. Praying is powerful.

Look, it's fine for the idea to turn you on, but don't actually do it.

It's the doing of it and practicing of it and trying to believe as others do that turns me on.

I have a fetish of banging a girl in a nun outfit and that's more reasonable than your fetish

I'd hate to say it but... At least your fetish involves something sexy. His is just... Entirely random.

She does understand. It's my decision.

    • It isn't for her as he obviously has those feelings himself, as he stated.

How can any of it be a sin if you don't believe in it?

Maybe you just get off on having shared experiences?

I suspect it's a passing whim or fascination if you're a true atheist, but who knows.
