Is it normal for fios wifi to shut down by itself nightly?
I’ve stayed at two people’s houses and they both have Fios, both instances they seem to shut down sometime after the sun goes down and won’t come back on til morning.

I have the same issue with mine. I just assume they work on it at that time but they should warn us because it interferes with people trying to work on their computers
I've known people with Fios, my son included, that have had nothing but problems with it. AT&T is better, but slows down at times too.
Internet services have a form of parental control that can cause this. The administrator (home owner) is able to implement blocks on when users are able to use the internet or what services they can use.
The person likely has it set so that internet access is blocked at night.
Yes, they don’t have a child but they have an adult son who is autistic, and they probably don’t want him watching Sesame Street (his favourite show) all night. This would actually make a lot of sense. But not a lot of sense when I was at my grandparents house.
Are you parents tech savy enough to know how to change it? I suppose it's possible Verizon has the "night blocker" on as the default setting.
Alternatively, your grandparents might just turn it off to avoid themselves being up all night. A few people I've met follow similar logic. IE: Leaving their phones in the living room at night.
