Is it normal for me to be interested in chinese culture?

I'm 28 but I have Asperger's Syndrome so I may sound child like but my parents are both Catholic and lived most of their lives in Britain.

I collect ancient Chinese ornaments, I visit Chinatown regularly, I watch Chinese movies and it's not just Kung Fu ones, I even like police action ones, romantic or drama ones too. I started dressing in Chinese clothes, eating Chinese food and speaking Mandarin with my neighbours and they're OK with it but my parents think it's not normal and they freaked out when started visiting Asian religious temples. Are they paranoid and racist or is it actually normal for a Caucasian person just to have an interest in Chinese culture?

China is great for Aspergers... you'll fit right in if you live there.

You are ahead of your time. The Chinese will rule the world, but will speak English to "inferior" foreigners. Islam will dominate Europe. America will be unable to assimilate illegal immigrants, becoming a trash pit of drugs, gangs, violence, unemployment, and corruption. Africa will go back to cannibalism.

The world is yours, my friend. Go forth, fuck, and live for the moment.

Who doesn't like Chinese culture? I know one thing - I just love that stir fried rice; that's for sure ...

Funny... There's more to Chinese culture than just stir-fried rice. LOL

I started to learn mandarin and got quite good at it, it's a very easy language to learn.

Very easy, I'm slowly becoming fluent. Each time I visit Chinatown, I'm always talking to the locals in Mandarin as if it were my own language lol

Lucky you - not to badmouth anyone - but when I'm around areas with larger concentrations of Chinese people (there's more than one in my area) - they're always talking in the Cantonese dialect, making me feel left out (Note that the people in question aren't always bilingual in Mandarin and their regional dialect.)

    Yes.

Some Chinese have a comparable case of anglophilia as well.

If you are searching for compromise, marry and breed with a Chinese anglophile.

    One big happy family.

And this advice comes with no insurance whatsoever.

Only if more people were more accepting of people that appreciate other cultures.

Sounds fine to me. Catholicism is a bunch of b.s. too. No harm, no foul.

Yes, there is incredible Chinese culture. But it is sad to see so many samples of "Chinese" culture only in Taipei museum! I wish China had preserved more their own culture!

You can thank people and history for that (without bringing in the complicated topic of politics).
