Is it normal for me to sing in public?

I love singing and I love singing for audiences. I walk around singing in public places like the park, stores, but mostly outdoor areas in hopes of being invited to sing for a band. It's always been my dream to be the lead singer in a band. Even if I don't get asked to join a band, I still love singing and being heard. I often just sing what I'm thinking and sometimes I sing actual songs in my own bluesy style. I haven't gotten any weird looks for my singing, so hopefully I'm not bothering everyone. I was wondering what y'all thought of this.

  • I love people like you. They make my daily outings more interesting. I love singing too but I only do this at home coz I'm not confident with my voice :(

As long as it makes you happy, don't worry about what other people think.

That sounds like a great way to get over shyness. I think if people love something they should do what they love, especially if its something with music.

    :)

I used to be shy about singing in public. But, not anymore, lol! One of my friends put me in a talent show, so I just practiced singing in public in preparation for it and to get over my shyness. Once I got over that, it was very liberating.

You remind me of one of my friends. We always loved singing together, but I was always a little more on the shy side. But she would just be on line at a grocery store and start singing, and she'd always encourage me to sing along with her, but I'd blush and get all nervous. Haha!

I think it's cool that you and my friend aren't shy in public. Sing where you want! Singing is fun anyway. Maybe you'll get noticed too.

Thanks! That would be a great idea! I have some friends that play instruments, but live 5 hours away. And that's the closest ones. But, who knows? I visit there for weeks at a time. Maybe we can get something going.

I sing in public too lol :)
If you have any musically talented friends, why not get together and start playing local shows? That's how all bands start out. Maybe you'll make it..good luck!

You do get weird looks. You just don't realise it, cos you are weird. But carry on singing. Sing! Sing! Sing till your lungs explode!

Yeah, I'm not loud at all. I sing at the same volume as my indoor talking voice.
I also have the urge to bust out laughing when people sing in front of me if they're loud. One time at a restaurant, a lady came right up to me and started singing opera. I almost fainted from trying to hold in that laughter. But, if they're at a normal volume, it has the opposite effect for me and I think it's sweet.
And that's why I walk around as I sing, so if people don't like it, they don't have to hear me for very long or feel like I'm serenading them.

I'm not sure why but when I hear people sing in front of me I have an urge to burst out laughing, even if there good.

But if it makes you happy and people don't look annoyed then do it, just try not to sing so loud:)

Don't wait to get spotted, audition.

Singing out loud in public can be as annoying as playing your car radio with the windows down. I normally dislike people that sing in public. It's just a matter of don't assume that everyone wants to hear the specific song you're singing.

Calm down a bit lol it's always a Good thing to do what you want but don't get too loud or try to hard because that can annoy people preeetty bad. My sister is one of those people that believes eveyone wants to hear them sing all day, and thank GOD i don't live with her! A nice soft song wont annoy me but a loud heartfelt one i didn't ask for is enough to drive me crazy! Lol
