Is it normal for me to want to die?

Is it normal for me to want to die? Someone in my family just died and that's all I've been thinking about. Saying I'm depressed would definitely be correct its just I don't see the point in living if we're only going to get hurt. I just want to know what it would be like to leave earth and go somewhere else that's all. Is it normal?

There is no "somewhere else" after death. Get that fallacy out of your head. If you die, that's it, you are gone forever; nothing, nada, zero, zilch. Rotting flesh in a hole or food for the fire.
Why not make the best of what time you have here, for you will have plenty of nothing hereafter?

Not saying I believe in an afterlife but I don't think you have the authority to definitively say there is nothing after life. No one knows what happens after death, saying you do is pretty ignorant. Either way though I agree you should make the most of your time here as it's likely the only life you'll ever have.

P.S. To the OP, anything beautiful is worth getting hurt for. At least that's what prince says. Life is crazy and you can't appreciate the good without the bad.

I do not need anyone's "authority" to definitively say what I believe. Anyway, nothing, nada, zero, zilch is infinitely preferable to an eternity spent strumming a harp on a pink cloud.
If the OP chooses not to agree, well that's his/her choice, without "authority", too.

Pink cloud with harp? Nonononononononono. YOU will be spending the after life on a nice fire-lake front property! :p

That would be infinitely preferable to the christian notion of heaven.
However, since neither are anything more than the delusions of the mindless masses, what difference does it make which one I choose?

I didn't say you couldn't believe it, I just said that doesn't make it true. I agree with your main point though anyway.

There is no point to living

I felt the same way when my mama passed last year. I'd say more but I don't think it's a good idea to talk about this where impressionable kids can read it. Let's just say I'm still alive and I know my mom wouldn't want it any other way.

I'm sure your family member would want you to live a full life and would be very upset if you tried to end it just because of them.

  • I doubt that if you wanted to die you'd be here typing that out. Just saying. Thinking about dying and wanting to die are two seperate things.
