Is it normal for my cat to try to kill me ?

So in the beginning of summer 2011 I got a new kitten that was 8-9 weeks old . He was really nice the first day but then the second day he was super mean, bitting scratching and for no reason at all. Like u could be petting him and he will be purring and just randomly start attacking . And it isn't just playing he is in full on kill mode. He has tons of toys a scratching post and I treat him really well but he is just super mean. And it isn't just me, he will attack anyone . Like u could just be walking around and will attack my feet from under my bed and try to rip them up. He has made a 8 year old cry 5 times now from randomly attacking her. So is it normal for a 5 month old kitten to act like this ? I thought it was just a phase but it has been going on for a long time now.

Cats are crazy. This is, sadly, normal. It's a 'baby' thing, with luck, and kitty'll grow out of it.

    However.

I still have scars a year later from a cat I babysat. She'd crawl into my lap and act all cute...kneading me, all "Aww I love you, you're my friend" then BAM! Claws, teeth, blood everywhere, more like, "I kill you, bitch!" Then when I screamed in pain, she'd freak out and run into the wall.

My dog did the same sort of thing for the first year or so of her life. She's a kelpie x. They're pure evil. Cats are worse.

But so cute and fluffy :)

Haha thank you for all the comments and I'm hoping he settles down soon.
And I have got him fixed when he got his hernia fixed but that hasn't made a difference.

my former roomie's cat used to do stuff like this. he'd hide behind a door, waiting for my sweet precious innocent dog to walk by and then pounce on her. he'd do the same with people, attacking their feet. one time he jumped ON a friend's plate of food while he was eating. if you were petting him, he'd purr and then out of no where bite you. he was crazy, but he calmed down during the last year or two of his life.
