Is it normal for my cats to make strange noises while entering a room?

My cats are attention seekers so whenever they enter the room they make a whimpering creepy noise so the whole house is aware that they are there. is this normal

    Cats are narcissistic creatures. Cute, but narcissistic.

    They also might be wanting to mate or something.

    My two kittens make all sorts of noises from miaowing to a brrr sort of noise. It's normal.
