Is it normal for my child to transfer school twice?

My son is a sophmore becoming a junior in high school. He has tranferred once due to problems with friends at his previous school. Now the school he is in now is losing 80% of their funding on their magnet program so I am thinking of trying to transfer him yet again to another school. Would colleges in the near future think of this as a bad thing? Would transferring him too much think that the child is problematic in some way?

If he's having enough problems with friends to switch schools, he probably IS somewhat problematic. That's probably not his fault though. Look into counseling; see about homeschooling. Some people just don't fit in with other students; I know I never did.

So if school the-usual-way isn't working for him--and it sounds like it's not--try something else.

i agree. it's probably better for him that he can get a chance to start a new school like he will for college. i highly doubt a college won't except him because of his changing schools - especally since this time isn't even for a social issue. good luck to him though =]

It will just make him stronger and more adaptable - I changed schools a lot and it made college less scary....
