Is it normal for my dad to do this? can i move out?

Dad came into my room at 3 in the morning while I was sleeping and I woke up to him on top of me. I was very confused what was happening as I was still half asleep. I started to become very uncomfortable as I only had underwear on as it was hot in the night. I kept repeating to dad to get off me but he kept saying “I am”, but he instead rolled over beside me and I was holding onto the covers tightly. He then kept trying to get in the sheets and I kept on telling him to stop. He managed to get into the covers and I moved to my side. He started to touch me inappropriately and was grabbing my boobs. I kept repeating myself but still he wasn’t listening. I managed to get out of my bed and put on clothes and ran into my car. After a bit I came into the house again and I slept in the spare room.

I am 17 years old and a girl.

I am pretty sure that he was drunk.

    That would be called sexual assault. Is your mom in the house? Tell her either way. He doesn’t have the right to grab you like that or try to get in bed with you talk to someone.

      So little update... I asked if I could stay with someone for a week and mum replied saying to just get out of her house. So I have moved out and currently living with a friend from school and am on the look for a new place to live. This really sucks but it was the only good option.

        Maybe you live in some hellish place where parents can kick obnoxious ten-year-old kids out of the house, but in most civilised places parents are required by the law to support and house their children until they reach 18 and become a legal adult.

        You should be talking to someone about this situation.

        No it doesn’t make a difference being drunk is no excuse for that kind of behavior. I drink a lot but I don’t try to get in bed with someone who doesn’t want it. He shouldn’t drink at all if he’s going to assault people like that

            She blamed me. Made me feel as if I’m making it seem to extreme than it is. “My husband would never do anything like that! I know my husband otherwise I’ll be gone in a heartbeat”. The talk was terrible. Dad came out screaming how he would never do something like that. I can’t remember anything. Now I’m gonna have to go to the police and say how I can’t remember and move out” now they are literally all hating on me. So I think I’m going to move out. I’ve been couch hoping for 2 nights now.

              Of course she'd say that, and I'm sure she actually believes it. In order to accept the reality, she'd have to accept that her husband is a scuzzbag, and that would mean she's the sort of woman who is willing to live with a scuzzbag. Nobody wants to believe they're that lacking in self-respect and can make such poor life choices.

              I'm in no way trying to minimise what you're going through, but this story is as old as the hills. Wives have excused, justified, enabled, and wilfully ignored the abuse of their children by their husband for as long as there have been husbands and wives.

              You're 17 and therefore a minor. You need to talk to the cops about this. If they try to brush you off, try to find some other agency or organisation that helps minors who have been sexually assaulted by family members. You shouldn't be forced to figure out how to make your own way in the world so soon just because your father is a dickhead who can't control himself.

              Whether or not he was intoxicated or high or whatever is irrelevant. A drunk who deliberately kills someone is still guilty of murder, and a drunk father who sexually assaults their daughter is still guilty of sexual assault.
