Is it normal for my dog to bark at animals on the tv?

My dog is a Jack Russell X Dachshund and she always barks at animals on TV. We have been trying to teach her to stop but she won't. Is it normal?

We think it's because she's very protective over us but we don't know what to do to show her that they're not a treat

Yeah I would have her euthanized right away, she's a danger to televisions.

    • She's so beautiful though. She has quite long legs too. She looks like a mini doberman. She certainly acts like it 😅

Our dad had a black lab pit mix, she would hear a dog bark on the tv and its like she thought its a window. I would bet thats what your dog is thinking. Your dog is a young one ? Make your dog sit with you while the dogs on tv. Otherwise you may have to wait till you dog just doesnt care anymore.

    • He sounds beautiful. I know other dogs do it too but it's crazy... we can't watch anything with animals on. Even cartoon/animated animals. She growls, barks, howls and her eccles go up. We have tried loads of different techniques. We will keep trying though. Thank you for your sensible comment

You can always try giving the dog a sleepy time pill. A xanax, or some nyquil. Lol

This is a whole some refreshing post to me as I have delved deeper into some weird crap on this server XD your dog may just need to get out and socialize more they are social creatures and it depends on how yours barks exactly, it could just be barks of excitement

    • Haha you're welcome 😅 she barks all aggressive. Her eccles go up and she never looks away... she goes for walks every day and she is fine with other dogs. She says hello to them but she doesn't like being around them for a long time. And we have 2 other dogs what she gets along with fine. I don't know if she thinks they're in her territory or something because she's very protective

I once caught my cat meowing at a rabbit on the other side of the garden gate.
