Is it normal for ocd to go away

When i was little, i used to have it, stronger than now. If someone touched me, (for example, my arm), i would rub it and rub the other arm. I hated touching the wall during showers. If i bump into the wall, i had to touch it an even number of times. I was super neat, everything had to be in size order. I hated my handwriting because it wasn't good enough. I remember writing a paragraph in the 4th grade and i was getting frustrated because i kept writing my name funny. I ended up crying and ripping up my paper, etc. Stuff like that. I don't know when it ended, but my guess is as a teen, i became less motivated in everything and these urges stopped happening, i don't even think about them anymore. I still kind of have it, though. I feel angry when my house is messy, yet I'm too lazy to clean it( which makes no sense.) When i walk, i don't step on lines, though this is unconscious, i don't feel anxious when i do. One thing i've always have is my Hatred for loose hair. I have trouble washing my hair during a shower because of this(i wash in the shower, but me out of the bathtub) I have this compulsion to check my clothes for loose hair before putting it on, even after using the bathroom. I just wanted to know if this is normal, or maybe I've discovered a cure?(doubt it). I went to a psychiatrist, and described my childhood compulsions and she said that it's definitely OCD. Please share opinions, but no rudeness please, we're all assuming adults. Thank you.

I have OCD too, it kinda stinks, but if you train yourself not to be bothered by it, it helps. It takes time and patience and you have to remember that nobody is perfect and its not going to kill you to not do something ;) hope it helps;)

I think it's normal, I swear my OCD fades in and out over years. For a couple years I couldn't step on cracks and then it went away. For awhile I would repeat everything anyone said under my breathe out of some weird OCD compulsion. And now I have a weird thing with my hair and my vision and even numbers x.x. It's extremely annoying but eventually I get over it and a new thing pops up, or certain habits go away and then come back years later. I can't explain it and I notice it gets worse and I pick up more habits when life is stressful. Ur lucky u got over it ^^. and it sounds to me like u started smokin weed...to lazy and less motivated =PP!!

I feel it is normal. I have OCD to some extent too for many things. On lot of fronts I feel it has reduced like double checking if I closed doors, switched of light etc. Though some things remain same like need to wash my hands on several occasions when normally people would not bother.
