Is it normal for ocd to go away
When i was little, i used to have it, stronger than now. If someone touched me, (for example, my arm), i would rub it and rub the other arm. I hated touching the wall during showers. If i bump into the wall, i had to touch it an even number of times. I was super neat, everything had to be in size order. I hated my handwriting because it wasn't good enough. I remember writing a paragraph in the 4th grade and i was getting frustrated because i kept writing my name funny. I ended up crying and ripping up my paper, etc. Stuff like that. I don't know when it ended, but my guess is as a teen, i became less motivated in everything and these urges stopped happening, i don't even think about them anymore. I still kind of have it, though. I feel angry when my house is messy, yet I'm too lazy to clean it( which makes no sense.) When i walk, i don't step on lines, though this is unconscious, i don't feel anxious when i do. One thing i've always have is my Hatred for loose hair. I have trouble washing my hair during a shower because of this(i wash in the shower, but me out of the bathtub) I have this compulsion to check my clothes for loose hair before putting it on, even after using the bathroom. I just wanted to know if this is normal, or maybe I've discovered a cure?(doubt it). I went to a psychiatrist, and described my childhood compulsions and she said that it's definitely OCD. Please share opinions, but no rudeness please, we're all assuming adults. Thank you.
