Is it normal for parrots to chase after and bite at your toes?

I had a lovebird who always used to try and bite our toes and run after them when we moved. I have an African Grey now and he does the same thing! In the mornings when he wants me to wake up, he'll come out of his cage, climb on my bed, and start gnawing my toes through the sheets. Do parrots have some sort of foot fetish or something?
