Is it normal for someone to be so into weed/weed culture?

Culture aside, in regards to use of weed, I think over the past 12-14 months I've developed a seriously bad weed habit, I spent a lot of my money on it and when I'm out, I'm usually depressed/sad/bored. I went from smoking about 5-10 joints every couple weeks, three years ago, to smoking up to 50 joints every couple weeks, bongs, pipes, too, etc. Some weeks aren't as much, maybe only 20-30 in two weeks rather than 50 but it still worries me and I'm trying as of now to cut down/change - which led to me wanting to post this.

If it's bothering you then you need to make a change.

You could try cutting down, but that didn't work for me. I had to go cold turkey. The first few days were awful and I couldn't sleep or eat at all, but after that I found it got much easier every day. It helped me to do some research into all the benefits of quitting and use a timeline - knowing the health benefits of reaching one week, one month etc made the whole process easier to manage.

Also you may need to cut some people out of your life. It's hard to accept this because these people are likely to be your friends and aren't bad people, but the people who encourage you to smoke weed will be your biggest downfall every time, and you probably won't quit whilst they are a still a part of your life.

    • You're by all means on to something. Especially the latter comments about cutting people out. I've already stopped hanging out with one of my "mates" because, and I mean this wholeheartedly, he was a weed-dependant using piece of shit. If I didn't have weed some days (rare, but it happened), he'd be absent. The minute I've got, he's on the phone, calling etc, and coming over. I've had to drop him. As for the rest, the process might be hard, but it might just have to happen. I'm trying to stay off it for at least 5-6 days. It's not much but it's a start.

If you can do 5 or 6 days then that is amazing. Those first days are the toughest

I know people who smoke like that and they have no problem with it. If you feel like it's time for change, do something about it.

    • I've only recently thought, "I miss my head being where it used to be instead of up my ass; I'm making a change!" And thus, it begins..

Considering your stated level of consumption, I'm surprised you're capable of writing something as coherent as your OP - and amazed that you could find the motivation to write at all.

Generally speaking, if we think we have problem with something, we usually do. The most challenging bit for most of us is getting to the point where we're willing to acknowledge that something isn't quite right in how we're dealing with life. Now that you've recognised there is an issue, you're taken that first, hard step. If you find it very difficult to actually change your behaviour, or if you find yourself making excuses for delaying changes or justifying your slip-ups, then it might be wise to seek help.

I smoke weed like constantly and I'm pretty sure I'm one of the most coherent people on here.

    I think youre BS.
That said, why dont you use your brain?
Make an enviromentally friendy greenhouse panel out of Hemp?
    Yea, invent a product.
Or just be another useless pot head.

I don't think he's BSing. You can build up a bloody massive tolerance to weed if you do it enough. When I was at my worst I was consuming enough to take down a woolie mammoth.

        Ok, hes built a tollerance.
        Until he builds something usefull.
        Hes just another useless pothead.
        contributing nothing to society.

        • Your contributions are actually somewhat funny though considering that's twice you've misspelled something, but hey, I'm the useless "pothead" who knows nothing. Not to mention: A) you don't know me but somehow you have deluded yourself into believing you do by calling me "useless" - I'm guessing you're just throwing that term around easily at anybody at any time, and B) what have you done that is so special that we must sit our belongings down at any moment and listen to you? You seem to have a grasp on what's USEFUL, and who's USEFUL, and what's not/who is useless. I'll keep on smoking my weed when I want - as well as making and writing my music, writing in general, studying, learning, and so on, so forth.

    • Well I'm not bullshitting you so take your head out from your ass. I am useless though, at least you're right there.

        • She gets no say in the matter. Yours must be proud knowing that you're so intellectually gifted to the point where you have to spell it with two l's.

    Valid point.
    I dont always spellcheck.
And yes, I like to made snap judgements.
    Probably because Im usually correct.
    But by all means.
    Smoke up, smoke more even.
Spend everything you can on getting high.
walk around dragging your feet in your dirty ill fitting clothes.
All you accomplish is to verify the stereotype that conservatives have of what legallized pot would lead to.
My investment money is set aside and waiting for the non pothead who is ready to use the plants for the multitude of possibilities they have besides making people like you feel goofy for awhile.

How old are you? I think it's somewhat normal if you're in your early 20s. I grew out of the weed by like 27. I started smoking it less and less until now im like nah. I think young people usually party more and celebrate adulthood before (hopefully) getting serious about careers.

    • I'm in my early twenties but strangely enough the hedonistic lifestyle isn't really my thing. I usually just hang out with mates and we smoke it a lot when we're gaming/watching shit on YouTube/TV, listening to music, or just chilling out.
