Is it normal for straight guys do cuddle at night?

So im a guy and my best friend has recently lost his girlfriend. She got in a car crush and he's just broken and few days ago i was staying over at his house and we shared a bed. So in the middle of the night i heard screams and when i woke up i realized he was screaming bc he was having a nightmare so i woke him up and he was really scared and just started crying so i hugged him untill he fell asleep. Then few days later he told me he has nightmares every night so i told him id stay with him and we were cuddling all night and now i stay at his house almost every night and we cuddle and he says when im there he doesn't get nightmares. Is that normal?

He misses his girlfriend, and using you as a subsitute through his grief.

Be careful, because he might delude himself into developing romantic feelings for you, and start treating you as he did his girlfriend so it can feel like she never died.

That mostly depends on the definition of "cuddling". It's normal to comfort someone physically to make them feel safe. Maybe he just needs to know he's not alone.
Either way I thought your story was very touching and it's sweet of you to do that. I can't tell you if either of you might be gay or bi or whatever, but what does it matter. You're there for him and that makes you a really good friend.
