I'm a white college student and my roommate always says racist things about me in front of my face. She also says she hates white people and always calls me cracker and the like. When I tell her I don't like her saying that stuff she pulls the race card out of the deck. I don't know if she's serious or if she's just joking however it gets worse when she has her friend and cousin in our room.

    I would like it, them being a little more interesting than a "normal" room mate. They'd be saying racist shit and doing racist things and I'd lol.

      Yeah she is and I've tried to get another roommate but the RA said that it has to be more violence related or bringing random people to our room to drink and smoke

            Well, I think that it is stupid to stay stuck in the past. My ancestors were slaves, I don't even know from which part of Africa my family comes from but this doesn't affect my personality. There are blacks I don't like and whites I like and vice versa. I don't limit myself to my skin colour and I am very sad when I see black people doing this.

              I know but its like bullying.If someone bullys you,most adults say don't fight back and tell a teacher/adult,ut people think it doesn't shange anything,so when the bully comes back,they will fight the bully.

    Even in these modern days, racists still exist. It's not normal and I'm sorry that you have been treated this way. I would suggest that you speak with whoever is in charge of the College's Living Arrangements. Tell them your concerns, ask them if they can find you another roommate. Hopefully, your concerns will be taken in consideration when and if they ever attempt to place a new roommate with this woman. It may or not take time to find you a new roommate, in the case that it takes time but you feel as though it is of the utmost necessity that you get away from that silly woman, you can try to look for living arrangements elsewhere. Do you have friends or family you can stay with?

    Hmm... that's not nice. Have you straight up asked her why she does it? As in why, not just that you don't like it. How do you mean by the race card? Racism can happen towards any races... she need to to realise that! More widespread towards certain races, though, I know.

      What you say is true but some races believe they are more privileged and can insult whoever they want without consequence.

      This is based on events that have happened in the past that they simply can not get over. So the OP being a poor white fellow has no say and is told he must put up with racial harassment since OP ancestors did something racist in the past.

      However this is very unfair since OP should not be responsible for an entire race and can do nothing about what happened in the past. It is not the OP sin. Yet OP will be made to suffer for it.

      When someone of colour is racist to a person who is not of colour they will often complain and say "You dont like me because I am coloured".

      Since apparently being coloured means you can not be racist to any other coloured person or non-Coloured person. Which is a load of crock and I know what the OP is talking about.

        You should report her to the counselor(whoever deals with your rooming situation) saying she is harassing you and wish to get a new roommate. You should not have to put up with this type of shit from some racist prick. I would say punch her in the fucking face but the courts might see that as a hate crime. So speak to your counselor.

    I think there are a lot of very racist blacks out there. Unfortunately, you seem to be paired up with one. You can't win this one, no matter how accepting you are; she's gonna hate you for your skin color just as she thinks all whites hate her.
    If you can change rooms, your life would probably be more pleasant.
    If you can't, perhaps you could tell her flat out that you have no interest in her opinions or rhetoric, so could she please keep them to herself.
    Otherwise, beat the crap out of her, all the while telling her to keep her foul mouth shut, and her thoughts to herself.

    This has nothing to do with race. It has to do with learned hatred. Never met at least one person of another race I couldn't connect with and respect. She is a piece of trash, dumb as hell (for shitting where she sleeps), and you need to get out.

    Tell the RA you need a transfer ASAP. Otherwise you could tell her imaginary stories about your drunk Uncle's impressive firearms collection. Watched this situation play out before just don't wait until it is too late.

    Joking or not... if she is passive aggressive your life will suck until you move.

      I disagree they shouldn't do that. Be the better person. If you do exactly what they do you're bringing yourself down to their level and it will give you no right to blame them. That would be very hypocritical. Just try to switch roommates.

    It's annoying to be around people like that, the kind who say insensitive and inaccurate things about other people.

    It's stupid really. Both my brother and my mother are complete racist assholes. Worst part is if your friends or partner happen to be of a race they disprove of...gets awkward. :/

    If you're living in the dorms find out about switching dorm rooms and or getting a new roommate. Don't waste your time on that stupid, bigoted bitch. You're in college to get an education not waste time on an entitled racist hypocrite. I hate people like her. Best of luck to you!
