Is it normal for your mom to yell over seemingly small things

So my mom is pretty unpredictable, sometimes she's perfectly okay and for others, she's screaming at the top of her lungs and calling me a manipulative asshole. One time she almost made me quit my newly found job (I was heading to an orientation) because I was wearing pants, when prior she had said to multiple people she was fine as long as I didn’t dress like a boy or slut. She then denied ever saying that and told me I was using my job and therapist (who she hated) to force her into things she didn’t want to do. Usually, after something like this, she would tell me she wishes I could just leave or threaten to kick me out. When I mention this to anyone, they never seem to believe me or brush it off. So is it just normal and I’m just weak for not handling it?
