Is it normal for your mum to put your cat down because of this reason?

My cat was put down a couple of weeks ago because my mum convinced me that my cat was sick and that it was cruel to keep her alive any longer.
But then the other day I overheard her on the phone to one of her friends and she said she got my cat put down because she was sick of paying for my cat's food. She didn't even give me the chance to pay for it instead!
Is that normal? Because if it is that's stupid & low.

    Did you tell her that you heard her on the phone? If so, what was her reaction?

    This is very strange. It would've been cheaper to give the cat away to a good home rather than have it put down.

      that what i thought, their mom must be some sort of bi polar or something for that logic to make sense. i know cause i liked a girl that was bi polar and Smh they get some crazy ideas sometimes

      I would have taken it to the pound. I don’t like cats. My stepson is out of town for 6 weeks. He lives with us and he refused to take his unspayed cat with him. So I refuse to feed it. I'm hoping it goes and lives somewhere else.

        They say you don't own a cat, it owns you. So you're probably right I'm sure it will find a neighbour to feed it.

    Poor kitty.

    I'm surprised the vet let her do this. Many vets won't do it if the pet's healthy these days.

    shouldnt you have been paying for it without having to be asked? sure thats an awful reason to have the cat put down but you should have taken responsibility for it before being asked.

    no that is wrong. no certified licensed veternarian would actually put a perfectly healthy animal to sleep.

    i think youshould go find ur cat at the shelter. or ask her wtf she did w ur cat.

    What vet would kill a perfectly healthy cat? If you didn't get to see it happen she probably took it to the shelter or left it at some random place or something.
