Is it normal for your son to disown you

dont understand have always been giving to him and his wife, even bought them a house that they picked out. I paid for it, and then signed the title over to them, yet this Christmas they did not even come over or even text us Merry Christmas. what is wrong?? I am really fluster about it. to the point I removed him from my will

Just because he didn't say merry Christmas doesn't mean he disowned you. No wonder he doesn't respect you. You sound superficial as hell not to mention spoiling him like that

Sounds like he’s a spoiled brat and that’s your fault. I don’t condone his behaviour but you raised him to turn out the way he did.

You cant buy your kids respect. Honestly giving him so much could be the problem. He has become entitled.

or he could be struggling financially trying to pay the taxes and utilities on a house he otherwise could not afford.

If I were to give a house it'd be one of those older smaller $30-$40,000 houses that could use some fixing up; and back when it was build housed a family of at least 4 (and perhaps 8); and make sure it had a good enough roof on it.

Let's see what they can do with that; and property taxes would be low.

You can get mobile homes so cheap. Buy him a little bit of land and put a $2,500 trailer on it.

I've experiences with such trailers... and sent my parents one to the dump when we moved them out (they are somewhat costly to dispose of).

My house was built in 1954, 1300 sq ft + full basement (another 900 Sq Ft), mostly brick exterior, detached 24'x24' garage. Current value about $150,000.

This town has a number of less than 1000 sq ft homes (+ full basement) that are in the range of 80 - 110 years old that have good structure, but need rewiring and other renovations. They sell for $30-$50K unless someone has already modernized them.

It's a far better option. Sweat equity and doing good work pays well in such a house (you can double its value at 50% of its cost if you do most of the work yourself - and do a good job of it).

I like providing people something with future value. Not something that is only headed to the junk yard.

Edited to add: Note that I grew up in a single story 900 sq ft house with a full basement (built about 1959); and have 7 brothers and sisters, although the oldest 2 had left home before the youngest arrived. A unique feature was the basement windows were full sized main floor windows in huge window wells so we could crawl out them - which we often did (and legally have bedrooms in the basement).

We had a Boys room and a Girls room, and bunk beds.

When they reached high school age the oldest boy and girl got a separate room, which passed to the next oldest when they left the house.

Im looking at buying 10 acres just outside of nashville and thinking about putting a little cheap trailer on the property and eventually building a house there, but in the meantime use it for hunting, and build a shooting range, and fuck around with dirt bikes there. Also thinking about possibly renting out my current house and also buying yet another one. Ive looked into it and have the income to make this happen but Im too pussy to pull the trigger. Real-estate is the only thing that possibly could make me wealthy aside from possibly crypto in 20 years doing well. But real estate is where its at. And its actually quite easy to make it happrn just rent the houses out.

Do he, and his wife have any children? Maybe their children were sick? Maybe they have a sick pet?

What was ya'll's relationship like outside of monetary gifts?
