So my teeth start to chatter when i talk about serious situations or deal with confrontation.I'm curious to know why this is. Could it be a sign of anxiety or nervousness? Also how could i prevent this.

What you are doing is actually a very natural reaction to stress. You are doing this because of your fight or flight response, which is naturally set off in our brains whenever we are in a stressful situation. Our fight or flight response naturally releases adrenaline so that we can choose to either face the situation or flee from it. The adrenaline is actually helpful in some cases because it can give us more energy and power to fight what is plaguing us.

Really what you're describing is pretty natural. Adrenaline naturally triggers a rise in blood pressure and heart acceleration and so on. Of course some people find their fear gets too out of control and it sends them into a full blown panic mode. It can be scary as hell, especially when you don't know what it is, why it's happening or when it will end. I've had many panic attacks myself and they are not pleasant experiences.

I think it's important to realize that fear is not a bad thing however. Many people like to think that fear is a bad thing but it's not at all. What if there was a fire and you didn't feel your body tense up, your teeth grit, your heart beat and you didn't go into defense mode? What if you just stood there without reacting, without calling 911, without trying to protect yourself? Like I said earlier, the flight or fight response is natural and it was designed to protect us. The adrenaline can actually push us to take action, to try harder, to face our fears (fight, to protect ourselves. It's actually a vital importance to our survival.

Of course, if you find that your teeth chattering is a problem then go get help. I would say that if you find yourself constantly worrying about things beyond your control or about things that are irrational, if you feel that you can't control your thoughts and that if you are having difficulty doing things that you are supposed to do or expected to do in order to gain your independence that you may have an anxiety problem. However if you feel that your teeth chattering is just a response to normal anxiety, then don't worry about it. If it REALLY bothers you, sometimes focusing on certain things like the way something looks, feels or smells can ground you in the moment and help ease anxiety. Otherwise, don't worry about it. It's normal, healthy and natural.

My teeth usually chatter when I'm freezing. It's an involuntary movement for me. I don't know if anything to can be done about it, but maybe a self-help book can alleviate your symptoms of anxiety.

I literally shake all over when I'm really nervous. Teeth chattering, body trembling, the whole deal. Like I've got a chill or something. It's fucking awful.

I can't offer you much help in suggesting how to deal with it. I generally just try to focus on other things until it passes.
