Is it normal has changed,

Is it normal to think that is it normal is not as good as it was about 5 years ago? There were some great characters then.
There are some good characters here now, but the overall hilarious quality of some regulars has gone :(
Maybe there has just been the usual turnover of members but I really miss the old regulars!

  • The old posts were exactly the the same! The person or people who keep making these type of posts are just sad because they're dullards. Or maybe they don't like that there are bigger kids on their playground now.

I hate to think that if I'm still on IIN in 5 years time either nobody or almost nobody who's here now will be here then. I'm sure they won't though, and I probably won't either (although I really hope I don't leave). I think I'd miss the people from my earlier days, so it's definitely normal to miss your people. Especially as the vibe and the users have changed so much since I've been here and I've only been here a year. It must be entirely different from how it 5 years ago.

Maybe IIN won't even *exist* in 5 years time. That's a thought I don't want even to contemplate :/ It's too good here! :D

That's life. I don't want to be harsh about it, but it goes away. Sometimes it trickles away and you don't notice until it's gone. Sometimes it whooshes away with its cape flapping behind it and you very much notice its disappearance. Either way, it goes.

Enjoy it while it happens, because it only ever happens once.

It's actually the old posts that I noticed first which made me interested in the site.

I feel like it's changed too but I wonder how much of that is me just being a bit nostalgic.

I left for a little while and that was a real dividing line for me between two distinct eras of IIN. This isn't the place I left and I kind of had to make a home here anew. But I think that's just because I left and didn't even read IIN for a long period.

The names change, but the story goes on.

Hi, I have been here on and off for over 5 years.

Were you around when Knuckifyoubuck was around? The others I remember are Gretchen, Potato, Warlord and Nearly (whose 'death' coincided with INN shutting down for a while).

Wasn't fond of Knuckifyoubuck - I didn't like his persona. He would act tough on the forum and when people retaliated he would play victim.

Gretchen - Don't have much to say about but she's a bitch.

Potato - Reminds me of Dappled. You could say she was the female version of Dappled.

Warlord - Nice dude but when he started to cyber date that 12 year old... it turned ugly.

Nearly - Lord almighty how I miss him, extremely helpful and loved his sense of humour.

I've (somehow) managed to stay around IIN for quite awhile and remember how it was like 5 years ago. There have been many changes within the site, both good and bad in my opinion.

In a way, I agree with you (about all the assortment of characters we used to have). However, we have a good lot of characters in this ''age'' of IsItNormal.

The site was a lot different then. You could literally post anything you wanted and get away with it. Although I liked the freedom of doing that, I feel the changes that Udi made were necessary that ultimately made IIN a better place.

I think your post is bred from nostalgia and I share your sentiments too. But to respond to that statement, I say ''I like this place now just as much as I liked it then.''

And may I ask, what is your username? I might remember you!

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Well, I've only been a member for /two/ years, so my opinion probably doesn't matter as much, but... I couldn't care less about the people trying to be funny in every single post. I just recognize the good, helpful people who know when to be fun. Seriously.. have you seen the things people post about on here... why would you want to make the acquaintance of anyone?!

I never thought there was any real 'community' on IIN... unless I'm missing something by not going into the chat. I probably am...

        • Allistalla

well I know I was a completely clueless kid too. I was very sheltered as a child I did not understand a lot of things. Also when I was in middle school everyone was getting high and getting laid and all knew about sex already and all these slang terms like cunt and blowjob and carpet licker.

I knew none of this when I turned ten so yes I think most would be happier being a ignorant child without a brain for sex. Things are simpler when you take sex out of the equation. There is no rape people are friends just because they like you not so they can fuck you. Women do not have to worry about being raped at parties. Party’s are just that not sex and drugs. You can dance with someone without having to date or kiss them. see why kids are happy? Kids are honest. Little kids are not looking to get laid.

Can you imagine if adults were all honest polite people? No one raped people? people wanted to give you flowers to be kind. That boy next door wants to hang out to hang out? See how nice that sounds? Most of the adult world is ruled by sex, fame , and money. Not a lot of room for human decency you see. Children are different. They do not base things on sex and fame and money.

They are just kids they are still innocent. That is why we try to preserve there innocents to ensure they are not damaged before they reach adult hood in attempt to bring up a polite human bene that is not going straight into the prison yard. Why do you feel so much more pitty when seeing a child hurt?

A child has not sown threads of evil or sin or committed a crime. Adults have you see. This is the difference between kids and adults. Also children are small and venerable they need protection since they are so easy to take advantage of. Sure if a 20 year old is shot you feel bad but if a 4 year old was murdered are you not petrified. See so much more of diffrence from a child to an adult.

You feel less pitty for an adult right? Children are less likely to understand and even those who do are still a child they still like childlike things and are still amused easier than adults. That’s why adults are so much more bitter and you can look at a child and smile. You can make that child happier than you ever were if you try hard enough. However you yourself will have a harder time being happy.

Now I am not saying we should act like children but I am saying children often see things in a prettier view. Also there is different psychological developments. One is abnormal my favorte study infact and study of children. This says that children are in a separate mindset than the rest. Abnormal psychology is usually that of mental illness and psychological illness.
