Is it normal have an intense phobia of being yelled at?

I have a phobia of being yelled at.
When ever I'm find myself close to a situation where I may end up being yelled at for whatever reason, I completely freak out and try to avoid it at all cost.
The though of someone yelling at me makes me feel really anxious or twitchy.
When in a conversation and I think it may involve someone yelling I get really tearful. When actually yelled at I get even more tearful I also get stressed, confused and feel like I want to cut (I've self harmed a lot in the past).
I used to (and sometimes still do) get nightmares where someone's yelling at me.
So yeah, that's all and of course I'm wondering is it normal?

Yes, no one wants to get yelled at, but it's not so normal to have such a reaction simply to the fear of getting yelled. You need to loosen up on that, may be an undiagnosed anxiety disorder.

  • I think I also get afraid when someones about to yell at me and I try to avoid it at all cost sometimes to avoid it I yell back before they can start but I'm not afraid at your level... I didnt even know it could be considered a phobia..? But anyways putting that asside I think its pretty normal!
