Is it normal help i have a serious problem with going to school

Okay well here's the story... I'm a highschool senior at a new school this year. I have a serious problem with my attendance. All my classmates joke around with me about it and say they miss me when i'm not there but I'm actually worried about not graduating. I've missed over 30 days altogether this semester. I don't know what to do because I just can't seem to stay the whole school day each day. I haven't been once to first period this whole semester and that starts at 7 30. I acknowledged in January that it was just too early for me and I would accept the f since I don't need that class to graduate. Much to my surprise I realized even second period is too hard for me to get up for and I really need that class since it's English. It starts at 9 and I usually stroll into school around 9 45 or 10 sometimes even later! All my teachers are fed up and on top of that I go on many trips I miss school for! Even if I do make it to school by nine I'll cut out early and skip fourth to go to work or the gym.... I don't know if this behavior is normal but I've tried really hard to attend all day but I don't think I've gone a single week without skipping.

If it mattered that much, you'd make it there, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Would you miss a 9:00 am court date? I don't think so. You clearly just don't want it badly enough, it doesn't really matter to you! Hell you ditch to go to the gym! Suck it up buttercup, you are going to fail, and you've earned it!! Bravo!

I know this is late but it's called SENIORITIS. It's not normal if you don't have it!

Its not normal but at least you are eligible for college. Hopefully, you won't continue to cut out on class.

  • Perhaps deep down you have a psychological fear of going to school - you should discuss this with a counselor or psychologist instead of just coasting/failing.

Hey I also can totally relate! My attendance started to get really bad my High School Freshman year. And my family moved a lot, like I went to a different High School every year of HS so I always found it hard to go! I wish I could say my attendance got better...but it didn't, lol. And you'll most likely have to repeat you're last year or make it up in summer school. I luckily got sick, like legit, my last two years of HS with Crohns and I would end up missing like months at a time but they let it slide b/c I was so sick (I'm not saying being sick is cool, I'm just saying the only upside to Crohns is missing school :) anyway, I'm in remission now and am in college. And I am slowly reverting back to my school skipping ways...:( I think this is a serious problem apathetic people like us need to address and we need a complete lifestyle change to become active in our own lives. I mean this doesn't just apply to school, this attendance problem affects our jobs as well. While I aggree this is normal, people with attendance problems such as you and me need to some serious changes!

Trust me, this is totally normal. I had to move states and change high schools in the middle of my sophomore year and it was horrible. School wasn't fun anymore because I didn't have close friends and it just wasn't the same. I missed 1 or 2 days each week and ended up having to make up time after school for my bad attendance. It improved junior year because I was finally settled in. Now I'm a senior and I only miss if I'm sick. I know EXACTLY what you're going through!

If you cared about your education, you would never miss any classes for any reason whatsoever. I only skipped class ONCE in high school. I took every single course I was assigned and I did all the assignments in them. It was about learning, not getting credits...

Your lazy! If you really want to graduate then you'll do whatever the hell it takes to graduate. My friend F'ed up real bad now she has to take 7 classes 4 night school classes (for both semsters so that's 8 if you add it up) and has to stay after school for like 3 hours to get 15 more credits everyday, she wants to graduate I can tell she really wants to. But, I'm not quite sure you want to because to me your not making an effort. Your normal, but just really LAZY.

That's because it's not normal for a teenage body to want to get up that early bodies are programed to stay up late and wake up late

You obviously don't care to much about your education or else you would force yourself to get up and stay all day. If you don't graduate, then youll just get another year to make up for your mistakes. You can't ask for help with something like this, this is something you just have to do

Well thats your fault, if you were serious about your education and future plans, you wouldn't be skipping classes.
I gotta admit, I was late for a few of my classes but that wasn't deliberate and I still managed to catch up with work, I suggest you do the same thing as in changing your acts if you wanna avoid retaking the same year which would just be a waste.

  • Yeah I do have plans for the future I'm starting college in the summer in a different state and idk I only need my English credit that's why I always skip the other classes

Your actions have added ANOTHER freaking school year to your life. Maybe that will make you think a little harder about the importance of school when you have to do it all over again next year. Do you have any goals? Any dreams or the future? Don't you want to be successful? If you want to get anywhere you at LEAST have to finish high school. Just tough it out and it will feel so good when it's all over.
