Is it normal i avoid groups of black people

I'm not racist at all, I do love all races. But sometimes whenever I see a group of black people in the path I'm walking, I do my best to find another way to go. Sometimes I can't avoid them and when I walk past them they all just stop and stare at me like I'm some sort of exotic bird. It really makes me feel uncomfortable and I just wish they would stop.

Does anybody else feel like this? If not, I guess I need help.

I also forgot to mention that I'm a black guy.

Please do not use -ists or -isms.

The use of 'race' in this context is now obsolete (Archaic). It is not a race.

There is no such thing as a 'black' person. Please describe yourself and others by tribal identity. Do you know from which tribe(s) you belong?

Groups can be intimidating. I don't have a clue what to add to that.

It depends. If they dress up and act like gangsters we see on TV, I would feel uncomfortable and scared too. But if it's just a group of Black people like typical people then I wouldn't even think about it. It's just like if I see a group of White people who act like they're members of KKK...I would be very scared.

huh what like black people be like "what you looking at boy? you want a piece of me? Gets gun out & starts shooting peoples?" I think that what you're feeling is just good ol' stereotyping. I think this stereotyping can be justified by fact. Groups of dodgy looking people can scare anyone but let me say though they can be black, white, Hispanic etc. That group of black people can be actually a friendly bunch & that group of white people can actually be dangerous & vice versa, but you don't even notice because it is embeded in your brain that black groups of people are the only ones that are dangerous.

I'm with CheyChey on this one, if you really are black OP, what are you doing to get those kinds of responses? I understand that lots of black people feel the need to fit the stereotype bill but it doesn't mean you have to put everyone in that group. As also mentioned, any group can be up to no good, started making trouble in the neigh-I mean, and all races have their own tendencies of bad acts. Its no good to be completely against your own. If you really feel like a group might act up though and you've already made eye contact, just give a quick nod like the cool people do, the whole "sup" thing, and keep moving. That way, you come off as cool and not in some odd state of annoyance.

If your starring at them while your walking by they may think your trying to start with them, they could be getting agitated by it. Just walk on by without looking back at them, you'll be fine.
Half of my family is black, I even have black cousins,
I love all races, but just don't look at them, and be on your way, they probably like I said think your trying to start with them.
