Is it normal i can enhance my hearing?

I've had this ability when I was a kid, where I could listen to the exact same sound continuously, and eventually, I'd end up being able to hear just about everything going around in the house, such as a pot being warmed up from another room with the door closed.
It has just now come to my attention that I can't do it anymore, and I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience too.

    Every human can do this with practice as long as they haven’t damaged their hearing. It’s just being able to focus more on one sense

    So you can hear good but that don't mean that you can listen.

    If you’re over 25 your hearing has probably started to deteriorate slightly and that’s why you can’t do it anymore.

    It's called focusing. Everyone who can hear well can do it. Also helps if your house has paper thin walls.
