Is it normal i can only voice-act if singing, but not if talking?

I have no problem mimicking mood/voices when singing various songs (unless they really dont fit my voice physically). But if talking I can only use the voice that fits my current mood, or maybe a neutral voice when I have some emotion. And not even adjust the volume much compared to what feels natural. In most cases its on the low end, but there have been times I legit could not talk at all because someone told me to speak lower.

I’ve heard it’s much easier to do accents whilst singing than talking because generally singing is slower than normal speech. Hence a lot of non-American singers sing in a perfect American accent.

      Seems legit.

Personally I suck at singing so just changing my voice is a relatively easier experience. A dream job when I was in elementary school was to be a voice actor. I make a lot of sound effects when i tell stories. So it works out..

I'm the complete opposite, I can do near spot on vocal impersonations of at least 20 different people/characters, a few accents & about 10 different voices I've made myself. But I can only sing in my own voice.
