Is it normal i can't look people in the eye?

I have troubles looking people in the eye when I talk to them, even when it's a very serious and interesting conversation I have troubles looking at them for too long, I feel awkward or like they know who I really am and see through me. I would rather stare at a wall, or the person walking past on the street or in the restaurant.. They're not looking inside of me to see who I really am..

    I too have trouble looking straight into people's eyes. I even laughed when I was at the alter and couldn't look my fiancee in the eyes. I try to look straight into people's eyes but it makes me really uncomfortable and I feel like they are looking into my soul so I will then look away and start fidgeting like a small child. I am almost 40 and would have thought that I could get past this now.

    Almost everyone gets uncomfortable looking into someone else's eyes constantly during a conversation.

    If you can't do it at all, like long enough to literally just say "hi" to a neighbor, you might have an issue

    its called chill. its normal, very normal. looking into someones eyes shows strength. not physically but mentally.

    I feel weird when looking people in the eye, like they might think it's weird or too direct...

    I especially get it when I'm talking to girls I like. Recently I've got up the courage to actually look this girl directly in the eye when talking, and thought 'who gives a donkey's ass if she realises how I feel about her'. It felt good to make eye contact with her. TBH, I'm hooked ;D
