Is it normal i cant play as males in video games?

video games dont represent a womans view at all. in all of them you play as males. i cant play these games because every time i do all i want to do is make my male character kill himself. it makes me happy to make males die and fight the patriarchy but to bad its not real life lol. i cant play these games because they offend me so they need to make a game about brave women fighting the patriarchy and killing males THAT would be fun. maybe you can play as wendy davis! who else thinks its time for video games to stop being misogynistic and stop oppressing feminism?

I don't know why you adding "lol" after saying you'd want to kill men in real life is amusing me, but it kind of is!

Anyway, how does killing characters in a game "fight the patriarchy"? How does this have an impact on anyone's life?

And it's not true that "in all of them you play as males" at all. The game I've been playing at the moment has a pretty even divide, and I've been playing as a woman (although I'm not too fussed about playing as a male character). Although, it has crossed my mind before that they've tried to make her look...sexy? I really don't know, to be honest. But, on the other hand, exact same thing with the male characters (there's two who are constantly shirtless). I don't really care that much, it's not like the game I'm playing even has a plot or anything. In games that do, I like to see strong, good characters of both genders.

Belittling (or killing:P) men hardly betters the position of women, does it? I think you're overreacting and I don't think it's normal. Isn't feminism about getting equality? It's not (or shouldn't be) about hating men, in my opinion.

How disturbing. You are an example of how bad society is today. Modern feminism isn't real feminism. It's really misandry in disguise. It's not normal and it shouldn't be acceptable.

      You have a point there.

Is this a legit story? I certainly hope not. How on earth "would" a video game represent a woman's view? A character is just that, a character. The mere presence of a male main character does not mean that the game suddenly dislikes or puts down females. Plenty of those games have great female characters. Never heard of Lightning, Lara Croft, Bayonetta, Jill Valentine, Sheva Alomar, Samus Aran, Faith, female Commander Shepard? In fact, female Commander Shepard is literally all the representation you'll ever need, that series has ungodly replay value, conversation and character depth. I believe your views are blinding you to the exact representation you're looking for.

I find the whole obsession with killing men kind of sad. Oppressing feminism? You're doing a good job of that yourself.

Where does all this hate come from? In many games you play as a woman and in some you can choose who you want to play as.

But I doubt your real problem has much to do with video games.

You are either a troll or a sad example of feminism.
Hard to distinguish between these two things, though.

Video game companies do this because video games with female main characters sell less. At least that's what I heard.
But there are many great games with female leads and you shouldn't be so bothered by this.
But please don't confuse feminism and men-hate. Those are two different thing. Feminism is about equality not about women being better than men.

Here are games with FEMALE charecter choices. Skyrim, Borderland 1 and 2, Left for Dead 1 and 2, all of the Mortal Combats, the Mario Cart games, the Pokemon series, Fable 1,2, and 3, and many more. Many games give you a choice between female or male charecters. One reason games male charecters are usualy the main charecters is because the owners of Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are male. How the fuck are they supposed to make a GOOD game without messing up on how the charecter will act? Also, more males play games than girls usualy. Sorry just pointing that out. Lots of girls think games are stupid. Few boys think they are. Me and other boys I know love them.

I used to always play as the princess on Mario 2 (aka Doki Doki Panic in Japan) because she could float in the air for a few seconds when you jumped and that made the game more playable. Lol

Pretty sure this is trolling, but my thought is, why don't you make your own video game then? Oh wait... women aren't so good at that, considering all the math and science and abstract ideas... hahah... and what about non-human male/neutral protagonists? Have they oppressed you as well??

I see where you're coming from. As a young child I often wondered why there weren't playable women. However there are more games now that give you the option without male default like Skyrim, and Advatar. I think slowly but surely game creators are starting to wake up to the idea of women playing as well. However you're missing out on some great games out there. Pokemon is one too. If you look in the right places you can find the heroin you so desperately yearn for. One day I hope women will be as respected in the game world as the male demographic.

I do agree that SOME games are a bit misogynistic and that should change. However, you're being a bit extreme. You're cross at patriarchy (as are a lot of people - many men included.) But 'fighting' it in this violent and completely ineffective way in a virtual world is very aggressive. It's good to be cross at things like patriarchy and sexism, but alongside that, it's also good to contribute to de-constructing it in a positive and effective way.

I agree most games don't have a womans view, but I don't like to see men die more than women. When I play, I love to play both brave men and women, (I don't like that most women in games are half naked). I sense some sexism towards men in your post.

    Btw, play Tomb Raider.
