Am I the only person who does this? I'm not going to name any names, but there are a few users on this site who spam all the posts with hostile off-topic comments.
So, I delete their shit! They don't deserve to be read.
I do it by selecting HIDE in the lower left corner of their comment box.
I could see why you would want to. Trolls are really annoying and they just want to leave insults. That is not productive to the posts or to the website. However maybe leaving the bad comments might help get them reported. To bad you can not report bad behavior on your own post. It would be helpful apposed to having the HIDE option. The trolls I keep seeing are not even on topic. You see a post about (Global warming) and they will comment saying "All black people must die"! Which has absolutely nothing to do with the post they just want to make a scene. I think they should add a report option next to the hide option for the OP. That way the OP can report bad behavior.
Yeah, it's a bit tricky for me. Normally I'd just expect those comments to be left alone, because if they've decided to post that comment, I feel like it shouldn't be deleted, regardless of whether it puts them in a negative light (you might even be doing them a favour by deleting it and making them look better than they are). But when it starts detracting from a perfectly decent post (which seems to be the case quite a lot recently), then I think deleting them is understandable. It's your post, and if people are essentially spamming you with complete rubbish, then I guess you shouldn't have to put up with that. It doesn't seem like you're majorly abusing the power you have over us mere commenters.:P
Personally, I just like to let the conversation go where it does regardless of what's being posted, but I get where you're coming from entirely. Your poll/story, your rules.
If you're going to delete all the responses you don't like, then why bother posting? Not everyone is going to agree with you or say what you want to hear. If you can't handle a people disagreeing with you on a silly internet website, how the hell are you going to handle it in real life?

Yeah, I do. I only delete it if it's *exceptionally* vulgar or aggressive--even towards other users. However, I do let funny trolling slide because it's not harming anyone and it usually makes me laugh.
The trolls that are insightful, yet take a shot at you are the best type. Just look at BlackJohnnylicious, he gets so much pussy that he makes me look gay and he's most definitely a being that can empathize with you.
