Is it normal i don't agree with school?

Okay, I get the general idea of school. To teach. What I don't agree with is what they teach us. They don't teach us things we need to know, like how to deal with losing someone close to us, how to do CPR or even self defense. Instead we learn about the Pythagorus theorem and algebra. Some things, like English, basic math, re, ect I understand, but what do you think?

I completely agree. There's so little focus on life skills. They just expect you to pick them up from experience. In addition to your list, I'd include things like how to live within a budget, how to deal with different cultures, the implications of unprotected sex, what drugs actually do and what the risks are, how to present yourself to an employer, how to work as part of a team, how to put yourself in someone else's place, and that fame is not as attractive as it seems.

They do teach you how to make a budget in economics class. They do not teach
      *self defense
      *how to interview
      *how to get a job
*any type of foreign language except as elective
*how to deal with sexual frustration
*Marshal arts is forbidden(since you can get hurt)
*cooking(should be required not an elective)
      *How to be organized
*how to interact with other kids
*That if you are not the most popular kid and have good grades it is ok(They discourage it)
      *Nutritional facts
*They do not teach you to be independent
*swimming(should be taught in all schools. No matter the location)

Heh! They taught me how to balance a cheque book. Fat lot of use that once. I don't think I've ever written a cheque in my life. Do people even have cheque books any more?

Cooking, swimming and a foreign language were compulsory for me, though. And I'm really glad they were.

if men need to get put into something without being able to choose and woman ask to have the excact same rights
Then they basicly ask to feel the pain of getting kicked in balls and giving guys the pain of PMS

Ok I take that back....we don't learn self defense but we learn budget management how to present our selves to employers cpr and how to deal with grieving people and help them or help yourself.

I really wish there was a high school course on how to file your taxes.

Sometimes you have to seek out knowledge, it isn't always handed to you on a platter. If you value education, you will educate yourself with whatever means you have.

I used to hate school with a passion for the same reason's. They cater to left brained thinker's too. And I'm more of a right brained thinker. I mean, sure their's certain thing's that you need to know in order to get by in life, but a lot of it I find ridiculous. However, I think some of the thing's they use are used to help you learn to strategize, and actually think. But I get your drift. It's normal to feel that way.

We can't all attend rich schools. Self-Defence as an activity? We can barely afford fucking soccar. And the school school counselor is about as comforting and sympathetic as a Ted Bundey doll.
School is a load of bollocks, they teach you worthless information. And the way they teach it! A room full of people your age, probably cramped conditions, and none of you really want to be there? School, ironicly, is the WORST enviorment for learning.

You do not have to pay a lot to teach kids to defend themselves. They have wrestling and basic defense tactics and if you pay 100$ for a set of PE cloth is it honestly that much to pay for extra padding? It is not that expensive.

We pay them a lot of money. They just like to waste the stuff we give them. They have no idea how to manage it. Do you know how much they pay a teacher? They have money to teach self deffence. In fact they could easily just give the kids padding and a long poll with foam at the end. It will not hurt them either.

Yes PE cloth even for public school is extremly exspensive. If you are paying that much for cloth I do not see why they can not pay a few extra for a set of gloves. In fact they do not even have to pay the schools are suppose to be equipped with PE Gear it is part of the budget.

May I ask where you're from? I recall my PE gear cost from between €30-€40.

      • I have never been in a rich school but I do agree with you on the rest of those statements. To be honest I dont think we should spend all our childhhood and teenagehood learning things I think we should be given a certain job and just learn how to do that for money instead of learning how to do multiple jobs.

But then you might not agree with that certain job. What if I learned how to teach history, but then aged, say, 17, I lost intrest and wanted to be a writer?
