I usually find people staring at me and I don´t know how to react. Most of the time I look away and evade the "staring" . I feel like I chicken for not confronting the person or at least stare back.
Is it Normal? and Please leave a comment if you have a different reaction than just look away, how they react?

just smile and wave, they'll feel embarrassed and awkward unless it wasn't you they were staring at in that case you will feel embarrassed and awkward :)
When somebody stares at me I want to punch them in the face. I can handle a two second glance but a glance longer then that is staring in my book. I'm very shy so I can't talk to people so I can't say "What are you bloody staring at?" when they stare and that makes me twice as pissed off. I wish staring was against the law >:(
my own experience: if they're staring then you're the person who is giving them something to stare at.
look at yourself, hygiene, clothing, acting etc and ask yourself: would you be staring at someone else like you if you saw one?

Same here. I feel very confident when I guide a group or working with clients. Well, because I stand out there and I know that they stare at me. But outside -like the public transportation or at the mall.. I kinda don't know how to handle strangers. Why do they stare? is it my tattoos, ear gauges, do they fancy me.. or hate me.. i dunno, lol. it's not freaking me out too much, but still very curious.
At first I look at them and then look away, and if they continue to stare, I stare back at them until they feel uncomfortable and look away.
If they're staring rudely I stare right back at them and they look away. That's what I thought.
Generally and mostly because I'm a girl i will point straight at them and start laughing maniacally then I might lift my top and flash them too. If this does'nt work I will look around for a brick or something equally heavy and rush them shouting " baby raper! " at the top of my lungs. This never fails.
You don't know how staring contests work? Come on!
In all seriousness, though, I've no idea what to do either although.... Dude above mentioned smiling and waving. I offer a different approach. Smile and wave but to the imaginary person directly behind them or nearby. Then, they will probably look for another person and you have a chance to run away awkwardly.
Where I am from, if you stare back, you almost certainly will get into a fight just over some glances. I have learned to just smile or laugh and nod my head as I am walking away or continue to do what I was doing. I don't even stare back now most of the time. I used to literally see someone stare at me and look behind me like someone else was behind me and look to them and they usually feel awkward for staring, especially if it is another dude like myself.
Really a hard stare eyes-burning-into-your-flesh stare? or just looking?
I Look them straight in the eye, even though i rarely do in any other circumstance
