Is it normal i don't understand football?

I'm 35 and female and I just have never understood football. I Don't understand the rules etc..so I am clueless.my ex bf tried teaching me but it was way over my head and so complicated and its frustrating. I don't even know when to cheer unless I see someone else cheering. It is like rocket science to me and its frustrating when you know even little kids understand the game. I feel so stupid when it comes to football.I've only watched one game in its entirety BC its like watching someway describing astrophysics or bionics to me...I just don't understand!

    At last! Someone like me! And I'm 36 too! Nope, never understood it and my boyfriends a fan. One thing I learned though is the phrase " it's only a game" doesn't go down well......

    My boyfriend plays football, and I went to all his games. Buuuuuut, I don't understand it at all really either. Hahahaha I didn't mind going though.

    I'd say its normal. I'm sure you could understand it better if someone told you each person's role, how many chances you have before the ball goes to the other team, stuff like that. I personally don't watch actual football as it never seems interesting unless some big run happens or the ball is intercepted. I'm sure it would be more fun if I actually played it myself but I don't.

    Outside of that, I LOVE the anime called Eyeshield 21 which is an american football anime. As people might agree, anime makes everything better and it certainly does that with football. Lots of people find sports anime dumb but maybe you could give it a try, it does explain the rules as you watch.
