Is it normal i dont want to go to college?

I do a art and design course and im in my second year with one year left, but lately i dont seem to want to go at all and rather stay at home, i was just wondering if this is normal to all of a sudden go from loving college to just not wanting to be there and not knowing the reason why, or is this just a phase im going through

    It's normal, college sucks.
But you need to keep going. You're over halfway finished and at this point, you will have just wasted time and someone's hard earned money.

  • You think college sucks??

Wait til you start working, and every fucking day is the same.

I'd probably enjoy college more if all I had to do was college.
      Same goes for working.
      Maybe I should clarify.
      My life sucks.

      • Well see for me college wasnt bad, and I am not talking about the party phase or whatever, I didnt do that much anyway. It was just nice having a couple classes in the morning, then done by noon, go to the gym, play video games, whatever, then work a job at night for spending money.

Now I have to be somewhere at 8:30 in the morning, til sometime in the later afternoon, every FUCKING day. FOREVER.

        Which sucks.

Upon closer inspection, I think I read far more into your comment than you meant. It sounded like "yeah it's normal to leave college, it's so hard, just focus on other things" but I realize now that it's more "it's normal to feel this way, college can be difficult, just stay focused". So, sorry about getting a little vehement in my comment there.

...Right. People should discard a large pool of potential mentors and passions because "college is hard".

I'm all for people making their own decisions, and people can certainly be happy and/or successful in life without ever having been to college, but it's a huge opportunity, and hell if I'll let some kid pass it up so easily because it's fucking "hard".

To the OP: it's your decision. Reevaluate whether or not there are other circumstances (stress, social life, etc) that may be provoking your dissatisfaction, or whether you truly don't think college is the right place for you. You can find happiness in either path, rest assured, but it's not a decision to be taken so lightly.

You can choose not to study (though it's hardly recommended), but don't just stay at your parents' house. Get active, start a project, get a job, anything. Get independent! You don't want to become a 30 year old girl/guy who still lives with their parents. And yes, that's where your heading if you don't feel like taking care of your own life.

"but lately i dont seem to want to go at all and rather stay at home"

So... who's paying for your survival then?

It's completely normal. But I feel happy truthfully that I stayed in for my majors.

I'll tell you this; this is my 4th year of college... I started out just wanting to take my Baking major but had decided to duel major so now I'm finishing up my Business Management and Entreprenuership major.

Guess what I'm a Pastry Chef now and I'll soon be able to have a better chance at getting a well paying job like becoming an HR Manager or something along those lines. Although I actually do have a chance to become one because I called Lowes the other day and they asked me to call their HR Manager to become an assistant. I never knew that would happen either... So college helps a lot is what I'm saying.

But it could be that you aren't enjoying your major any longer and want to take something else. Or you just need to stick in there like I did.

I'm really close to my family also and the college I go to happens to be 3 hours away but after 4 years I really don't seem to care as much I like being on my own even though I love being with my family.

It's so normal ! You said you went from loving it to hating It. You just hit the wall that's all, push through it, your life will be much better with that degree. Some days the best we can do is just put our head down and get through the day . I promise you after a while the joy of going to school will return. By the way,you will feel the same way about everything in your life:school, marriage ,kids, work ,at one time or another, and it will pass.Life is good enjoy

Does anyone really want to go to college? It's kind of just something you get told when you're young that you're "supposed" to do.

You're normal. I agree with NeuroNeptunian. College does suck.
