Is it normal i got annoyed by the catholics in class?

I only posting this since I was discussing it with some friends the other day of when certien discussion is appropriate. I do recall a moment in school when I was frustrated since I happened to be sitting at the table where all the other kids happened to go to the same church. This might not have bothered me beside the fact they all started talking about it in the middle of class and would not shut up even after the teacher gave us the assignment. This was a class I was also in fact struggling in so added more frustration to the situation. My head was about ready to explode as I tried to concentrate and read as the people so devoted to god would not stop talking about him and ignored me when I asked them to focus on the material since I could not concentrate. I had other situations like this happen and I feel bad since I was raised in a Christian house hold so feel bad for hating about this. Am I a jerk for being so annoyed?

Yeah. It's normal. Everything has a time and a place. This group apparently just hasn't learned that.

No, you are not a jerk.
Regardless of the religion or whatever the hell they believe, it is annoying as all fuck when people are obnoxious and talk in class. I sit in a Math class and I have some fuckers in front of me who turn around and bother me whenever they are bored and it annoys the fuck out of me because I am in college and in college, you shut the fuck up and wait for when it is a decent time to talk and you know when it is a decent time because the professor isn't talking and adults fucking know when to talk and not to talk, so be a fucking adult.

I'd be interested in counting how many f-bombs I just dropped.

Don't blame it on them because they are Catholic. Blame it on them because they are annoying as hell and don't know when to shut up.

    • I never blamed it on the fact they are Catholic.

I hate when people talk about religion. Especially when they involve ME in the conversation. Not every person in this country is a Christian, and I happen to be a Buckleyist. That's one of the downsides to belonging to a religion you made up yourself, but my faith is unshakable.

Maybe at some level you are just feeling left out, it could be that if they were talking about some non-religious subject with which you were unfamiliar you would feel the same way.

depends... what class was it and what was the assignment for?

and if this was a point in class where people weren't suppose to be talking why didn't you just ask the teacher for some help?

    • It was a Science course and they kept talking about god and discussing the teachings and trying to interperet them in class.

They did not listen to the teacher either. They honestly did not seem to care what anyone else in class was doing.

I fealt like maybe I should care what they are talking about but I honestly did not.

Now for my next question - high school or college.

If high school then it's best you bring this up to your parents.

If it's a college course however, you can address this with your dean on the basis that you're paying for the class, so you'd appreciate it if the teacher didn't allow students to monopolize the class with their sidebar discussions.
