Is it normal i hate cars?

I've heard so many people that I know have the gripe of maintaining cars. I'm 37 y/o and to date have never owned one. I've driven other peoples a few times and that's it. The last time I drove a car was 2 years ago, I wasn't driving it very well and the operator of the car told Me to pull over, that was my last time behind the wheel. Everywhere I look there are eyesores of nothing but cars that are made of plastic and fiberglass. Maybe if I wanted a car I would prefer it to be made of REAL metal, they would probably be more expensive than the cheap-os they make today but isn't it supposed to be the ride of your life instead of keep changing them? Who else feels the way I do about these crap cars they make these days? Come On People! There would be less auto Deaths!

I fly my griffon every day to work. I have to smoke a lot of illegal substances to summon him. And to summon a workplace.

The comment I posted was made 45 months ago. Usually you don't respond to something that old.

Well I do hate new cars. I only have and have had older, metal ones. Yay me. Oh I also prefer them to be larger than a jelly bean.

    Your facts aren't straight mate!
Most cars are made out of metal. Bumpers and side skirts are plastic, but that's cause the material is light. And modern cars are supposed to be light and safe. And if you don't like cars, don't drive them, or ride in them.

    Simple as that.

I'm not going to continue talking, since I am a car enthusiast and I love driving.

    There are other alternative transportations.

I own 4 and wish I didn't own any. They nickel and dime you to death, and you spend too much time behind the wheel. I now take the metro, and save $60 a week.

I'm not fond of Metro for getting to pressing commitments either but it's one of the ways I get there. There's this other service called ParaTransit which I may look into. They're a part of Metro that pick you up where you live to take you to your commitments. You can still use the metro for leisurely activities.

Cars aren't made of plastic and fiberglass, they're made of steel and aluminium.

Corvettes are made fiberglass. My Buick is made of steel.

Cars hate you. Not everyone lives in the city and driving is a necessity.

That's a flaw in city planning. Public transportation is a joke in most cities. New and improved roads are made a priority, not public transportation, bike lanes, or pedestrian access. It makes us lazy.

What about people like me that live miles and miles from anything? Like the nearest grocery store is over 5 miles away. I can't walk that far every time I need to shop.

Exactly. My grandparents live in a town where they're thirty minutes from everything, so they need a car if they want to get anywhere.

It's similar to where I live; while I only live fifteen minutes away from everything, I can't get there unless I have a car. I'm grateful that the country where I live at the very least has a bus system, but depending on where you go, it can take you longer to get to anywhere. It takes me about fifteen minutes to get to the mall when I drive, but if I take the bus, it take about 40 minutes, because of all the other stops they have to make.

I understand if you live in a big city, there's no need for a car. Hell, if I lived in NYC, I wouldn't even bother trying to own one. But if you live in an area where you're far away from everything, having a car and knowing how to drive is a necessity.

don't ever drive if you haven't driven in two years, you're endangering other people at that point. The rest of your post doesn't give any valid point about why I should hate cars more then any other over-used stupid gadget. If you have no use for it...dont use it. Simple.

It's not the car itself but how it's operated and by who.

Are you in a rural area? I know this is hard to avoid in some areas. My issue is with the subburbs being built without consideration to the residents having access to things like a grocery store. I grew up outside city limits and we had to drive 3 miles through track housing just to get to a place that sold food. It's so much worse now. People have to live somewhere, but city planners seem to forget that is requires more than a house to live. This type of planing also prevents people from feeling a sense of community with their neighbors. Surrounded by people but isolated at the same time.

I live in the city where it's congested with motor vehicles. 20 years ago You wouldn't have seen the streets lined up with cars just a few because people carpooled, took the metro more or rode their bycycles or motor cycles. I want 20 years ago back in one way but the abusive disciplinarians can definitly go bye, bye.
