Is it normal i hate cats?

They seem to me extremely selfish and they have only interest relationship with humans. We had a dog when I was child, he made me feel secure and I was sure when someone attacks me he will do all he can to protect me.
I can not establish a healthy with my girlfriend's cat and I want to get rid of him.

Animals aren't made to please you.

Precisely! I was going to say something very similar, just with more words.

Cats were specifically bred to. That's why they exist in great number in our homes and cities in the first place. And you thumbs uppers are dumb shits.

Well then we sure fucked that up, didn't we? Throwing our under qualified brains into such a technical endeavor. Hell, we still don't know what pleases us. One thing is for certain, they didn't ask to exist as such. We created the responsibility and now we constantly try to back out of it. It still comes back to us as the dicks, not the cats.

        This.
It's also where we get terms like domesticated animals, selective breeding, and designer breeds.

Just a heads-up: those who disagree with you aren't automatically a "dumb shit".

Cats are not for majorly insecure people or those who demand to be in control of everything.

You will never have control of a cat like you would a dog & they can make you feel unnecessary, until it's time to be fed at least...

& trying to establish a relationship with a cat is not likely to work.
If it was going to happen it probably would have by now.

I have 2 cats, one seems to hate everyone but me, the other will let ANYONE pat it (kids, people walking by).

I think it's ironic you call cats selfish yet you want to get rid of someone elses pet...

I have a therapy cat and he has always been there for me. He comes to me whenever I am feeling anxious or panicked, and he knows just how to calm me down. I can honestly say that without him I would have done some terrible things to myself.

Cats are amazing animals-- really it can all depen on the temperament of an individual cat, how well it knows you, and how NICE you are to it. I feel like cats are very good at sensing peoples emotions and feelings, and if it knows that you don't like it, it probably won't like you very much either.

Is the kitty certified? Do you get to take him/her everywhere? Does kitty wear a little vest to signify that he/she is working.

I guess I'm wondering if I can train my Andrew and we can get some kinda certification and go out in public together, but then again he might be too old because my baby is over 7 years old.

I also think a Labradoodle or a Golden Doodle would be a great therapy dog.

I would never get rid of my feline best friend for a guy. I hope your girl makes the smart choice and gets rid of you if you don't straighten up and fly right! Stop being so damn self centered!

It isn't okay to wish your girlfriend sever ties with something she cares about just because their presence bothers you. Apparently she gets what she needs out of that cat the way you get what you need out of a dog. The cat does something for you by extension of your girlfriend. It doesn't really matter if you understand the cat, only that you understand what they mean to her.

  • What Cruvsades said is a good point.

Buuut, cats can be amazing animals, they're just extremely independent. My oldest cat Samson is very indipendent, will be out most of the day, not want to be around the other animals or humans, then at night when he's tired he'll be great with the animals and humans, cuddling in to them and so on.

Cats are my favorite domesticated animals, they're very indipendent.

It was actually a shitty point because it implies cats existed naturally.

    Cru hit the nail.

The personality really depends on the breed and the cat. For instance, my first cat was a Tabby-Tortoiseshell and she was very independent. She didn't like a lot of affection and she was super temperamental. She wasn't selfish. My current cat is an Oriental Shorthair. She is extremely affectionate and playful. She needs a lot of attention and affection otherwise she'll get mopey. She not selfish either.

Out of all of the felines that I have met, none of them have been selfish. I think that is one of the stereotypes that plaques their kind.

I used to not care much for cats until I met my little Bengal cat. Got him when he was 4 months. He's now 1 years old. He's soo dog like. Follows me everywhere, meows like a mad man waiting at the door for me after work. He even plays fetch. I bet if you could meet a bengal you would fall in love. They love to play and be around you. Not really a lapcat but there's a lot of interaction between a bengal and his person.

      Bengals are fucking insane!
Would love to get one but currently have a very dominant, very large tomcat & I can't see that ending well...

Haha, probably not. And you're not kidding when you say they're insane. My boy climbs up the top of every door frame just to jump off and bolt to another door frame with a crazy ass look in his eyes. Its actually hilarious when he gets in his super hyper moods.

Buy her a chubby kitten as a present, then he will grow up into a fat cat who you and her will have both grown to love, because everyone loves fat cats and therefore everyone will be happy. Trust me I'm an engineer ;)

But if that's too much effort I'd suggest just stroking her cat when he/she walks up to you, be gentle, let it come to you and ask if you can fed it a few times so it will associate you with food and like you more.
