First of all, this isn't a gay-bashing question. I wholeheartedly support gay marriage and gay rights.
I was talking to one of my gay friends and somehow the topic of homosexuality came up. He repeatedly insisted I was gay even though I'm not. I said I'm not homosexual but he kept insisting me to "come out of the closet and embrace it."
is it normal I hated when he kept on insisting I was gay?

    That's never happened to me, but I'd sure hate it if it did. If you respect and tolerate their sexuality, they should do the same for yours.

    Perfectly normal and acceptable, no matter what the issue a good friend listens to you and respects you, whether he wants you to be gay or not.

    For having many gay friends I can say that most of them think that all men are potential gays and they just need some cheering up to cross the boundary.

      To be fair, that's also how many straight people think of and treat gay people. "How do you KNOW you're gay?" "You just haven't met the right girl/guy yet." "How do you know you don't like sex with women/men if you've never tried it?" etc

    If a guy started insisting that I was gay and that I should come out of the closet in a serious, not joking way I would pound their face into the floor. Get new friends, this guy is either just an asshole or gay himself and he likes you

    When someone calls me gay, I just reply: "Thank you.", as it's more of a compliment than an insult for me. And it makes them shut up immediately in 90% of cases.

    Maybe he wishes you were because he's attracted to you? If he's really a friend he'll accept you gay or straight.
