Is it normal i hate when trying to explain your morals and..religion

I hate when trying to explain the morals you follow and people blame religion. Like its has nothing to do with religion. No one can have morals others disagree with without the other party blaming religion and calling you a moron for having them. If you say "I don't want to go around stabbing children since it seems illogical to do it" means you are religious. They just make an assumption based on you not fitting their belief and so think you must be religious.

I'm an atheist not that it has bearing on this topic JS...
Moral or ethics have nothing to do with religion. You may believe in different things that religious people believe in and not be religious yourself..

All righty then. Now just who is it that insists your morals are religious based and what in the world did you say to make them believe that?
I am so anti-religious that if I could wipe out every religion on earth, I would (to the betterment of mankind, in my mind, at least), yet I believe my morals have nothing to do with any religion or their teachings.

    • Well if you say something they don't agree with they say "Oh you must be christian". If you say "I don't believe in abortion because I think people should be responsible enough to use protection". They will say "Yup. That is what a Christian would say. Your an idiot".

I really don't understand how someone can blame everything on a religious teaching. All people have a code of ethics. Even if there is two atheist sitting in a room one might be conservative and one liberal.

You could preface your statement. For example say, "Even though I am a non-religious non-believer, I think responsible people should use protection rather than carelessly get pregnant and have an abortion."

        • Why should anyone have to? Is it anyone's business what religion you follow? Should everyone be forced to say before every discussion "Hey im atheist, hey im agnostic, Hey im hindu, hey im Christian". Why is that necessary? Is that anyone's business?

Also why are peoples beliefs dictated on if they follow a certain religion. A vegan is never told they cant be vegan unless their religion says so are they? They can say they care about animals and no one ever says "Well you must be religious".

Does an atheist have to suddenly become christian for not believing in Abortion? Why should everyone else get to dictate what they believe in?

I understood your post, I really did, but you didn't answer my question; "Now just who is it that insists your morals are religious based"? Who are "they"?
