Is it normal i have become a complete asshole?

I am not heartless but I have lost my ability to deal with people. I use to have a basic understanding of peoples feelings but now it seems it does not click at all. I kind of just say really messed up things without thinking now. I know I should not but I kind of just do now. I also have lost a lot of sympathy for a lot of things. Now normally I have respect to a point. Now I am not overly sensitive and never will be. However now I just say things that are not nescary.

It's perfectly normal to be an asshole, just let me tell you that there is no known cure for assholery.

I know how you feel. I use to be a nice guy but after being alone for so many years I've just become an asshole.

I'm the same way. It makes me really sad because I wish I could be as nice as I was when I was a little kid... I hate not having sympathy towards people anymore...

did you go through something that made you have a loss of empathy and sympathy for these types of things?

    • Long line of things have happened that have created different emotional states. Not sure if this is what created it. However this seems more of carelessness. As in I stopped thinking before I react and it has become an automatic reaction.

Similar thing happened with me. When I was younger (15-16) I generally cared about others' problems, feelings, and what they were doing in their lives in general. But at some point I've just stopped caring. Not really sure what changed but I distance myself from people because I just don't want to hear about their lives or their problems. I just don't care anymore.

As we grow older we become less sensitive. It's normal, things that surprises you once rarely surprises you twice. You have not lost your ability to deal with people, you are just not as sensitive as before.
