Is it normal i have conversations with my animals?

I talk to animals. I know they do not know what I am saying or I think they do not know. It is not like normal talking either it is not like "Good boy how are you" or "Hey baby". Some days I just come in and start having a conversation with them like. "Hey how was your day today"? Hey do you know what I did today"? I think you might like this friend of mine". I do not realize it when I do this either it just happens. I feel stupid when other people catch me doing it. I feel like a idiot doing it but I can not stop myself.

Normal. I talk to my chickens. They sit there on my lap and cluck when I talk to them. I think they just assume I have a yummy treat for them.

During your conversations, you could always remind them that they are indeed a yummy treat themselves.

        • I dated someone with strawberry blond hair. It looked almost bronze. It is a very beautiful color of hair.

I always used to say to my dog, "Hello sweetheart, how was your day?" and then kiss her on the forehead. But that's because I'm a saddo who didn't have a girlfriend. Hmm, actually, come to think of it, I did have a girlfriend at the time. Just a saddo, then.

  • I've tried but it never felt natural. Maybe because every time I start talking she runs for a toy. Also she just looks at me then turns her head/walks away. So hard to impress. I do make passing remarks though.

When I hug her I say, "Huuuug! I got you you can't escape!" Or if I want her to come to me sometimes I say her name ending in bird call, "Su-SHEE! Su-SHEE!" I also say things like "Waddup beitch?", sing to her "Sushi roll hotter than wasabi" (Drake), "Hello there", "Stop staring at me/What are you looking at?" (in jest) stuff like that.

Absolutely normal. I have conversations with my dogs all the time. They know what we are saying.

Of course it's normal! I have two cats and I talk to them and i swear, they listen. I can have conversations with them and if they are at the door when I get home I can say "go" in a normal voice and my cats walk away. They also respond to the word "food" and I even asked one of my previously owned cats (she ran away) to get me one of her toys and she came back 10 seconds later with the toy in her mouth, then dropped it at my feet. I don't train my cats to respond to conversation, they just... listen.

I think it's normal, and I think that they like when we talk to them even if they can't understand what we're saying. I think they like the sound vibrations and the fact they are getting attention. Especially if they are a house cat or dog who are home alone a lot. Then I think they need it.

    • Well mine seem to answer me a lot of the time. I will ask "Are you hungry" and he will meow. He even knows how to open the door on his own(He learned to turn the nob). I ask my animals things I do not think they even care about sometimes though like "Hey do you know what they are selling on TV"? I have no idea I do it but I do. I kind of wonder if they could talk, what would they say to us?

Yeah, I talked to my dog. Totally normal if you don't try to have a philosophical discussion with your pets in public.

I have all sorts of conversations with my pets. One of my cats gets a very offended look on his face when we laugh at him for being a giant pussy. He's huge and scared of the little kitten. I tell him to fight back and cheer him on when he takes a swipe at the little pipsqueek but he really isn't capable of hurting anything. It's sad really. And every night I tell kitten he can't sleep in the bedroom if he plans on attacking my hair. And every night I apologize for throwing him across the room. And every morning I call for the big one to come out of hiding. I usually find him hiding in the vacant lot and I give him a big hug, tell him I miss him and that I'm sorry the little one is such a brat.
