Is it normal i lie about stupid things but not huge things?

Sometimes I'll lie about insignificant things. For example, if I've just come back from a really long trip and hadn't ate anything on the trip and someone asks me if I did eat, I'll say that I did. But if it's a huge issue, I'm not going to lie about it. Is it normal?

It is ridiculously normal. Most people, even honest ones, take for granted that lying to relatives doesn't count as a lie for example.

Why though? I think it's odd but I have encountered many people that do this. I usually find out they lied later and don't trust them as much. It just seems weird to make up things.

I do it all the time I don't get it. Today I had my earphones in and the house phone was ringing. I ignored it, so when my grandmother asked me who called I told her they hung up the phone on me! Lmao But if I have to tell the truth, even if I'm in big trouble, I tell the truth. It's backwards, I don't get it.

Sometimes I just make up stories or dreams I've had just to make conversation. Things just go more smoothly with lies. But if you lie about something major then you usually get found out and it makes things worse. So I would say that that's completely normal.
