Is it normal i'll never stop looking for him?

Please be kind, as this is a sensitive topic for me. I was thinking the other day about my childhood cat. He was put down six years ago and it still is the hardest thing I've ever had to watch.
I don't consciously think about him very often, but I realized that I'm always looking for him. When I see a cat of the same colour I look at the face, at the eyes, I pay attention to how it interacts with me, I look for similarities. I've lost another cat since then and now have two more and I love them all very very much but I'll never stop looking for my childhood cat. Has this happened with anyone else's loved ones?

One mustn't dwell on such things. To keep him in your heart and thoughts is one thing, but to seek what can not be found is another matter entirety. Move on, my child. Only then shall ye truly heal.

Been there too. I have a black kitten and I will never stop looking in shadows for sudden movements, in case it might be him

I think it's somewhat normal to a point, but you should do your best to stop yourself from doing this. It will bring more pain :(.
