Is it normal i'm a guy and i hate sports

As the title says. I've always hated sports, the whole culture around it and especially around football. Some men really act as if their life depends on their favourite team's performance and it irritates the shit out of me. I've always been a geek. I strongly believe that even those men may not really like sports THAT much but pretend because of peer pressure since men who have the courage to admit they hate sports are mocked and I'm sure I will be here as well. So is it normal to hate sports?

I think all sports are dumb and a waste of time. I've never understood what's so great about watching a bunch of men play with ball. The same things happen over and over again. Nothing new ever happens. If you've seen one game, you've pretty much seen them all. I've never understood what's so fascinating about it. It's so boring to me, I could easily fall asleep. Just a colosal waste of time.

I'm a girl and I love sports, I get called a tomboy because I'm really into football.and cricketbut it balances out, I love netball, rounders, swimming and running to. I'm also a really good figure skater, I do lots of comps'. I guess some people are sporty and some aren't. Don't worry, its completely normal! C:

Believe it or not, that is very much of a turn on for me. I would love to be with a guy who doesn't like sports, but it is very hard to find. Most guys want a girl who understands sports, but I know I do not as I hate them myself. Tell me you have an artistic side, and you will be perfect. It's very normal that you don't like sports, and in fact it's great, and if anyone tells you otherwise, give them the middle finger before you kick their ass because not all guys have to be into the same stuff.

There's nothing wrong with being a geek. There's nothing wrong with being a sports fan. They're both FANS. A geek appreciates good writing or good art. A sports fan can appreciate skills and strength.

Well I don't know about you but I'm pretty sure my life does depend on the Legend of Korra season finale. Us geeks can be annoying too.

I'm a geek too; it doesn't mean that's the only thing I am, though. I've seen every game of Euro 2012 so far (to the point of putting my social life on hold) and plan to watch every remaining game. If there's boxing, tennis, snooker, darts, swimming, curling, skiing, gymnastics, golf, athletics, or motor sports on, then I'll be watching that too. In fact, about the only sports that make me gag are cricket and rugby.

But in terms of my football club, my life is truly shaped by what Liverpool do on the football pitch, who we buy, how we conduct themselves, and our history. Even if I got married and had children, I'd have to think twice about whether holding my newborn for the first time was better than the night we beat AC Milan on penalties. Sadly, I don't think anything is ever going to be better than that night. We all draw meaning from something. For me, it's eleven men kicking a bit of leather around.

I hate sports, too. A lot of sports ability is genetic and/or learned when you are a really young child. My family never cared about sports and neither did I. I believe that different people like different things, but no one has the right to cram their interests down someone else's throat. Hope this helps.

@danny79 : Oh, oops boing ! Looks like "danny79"'s account was closed for some reason. How'd that happen ? Maybe because he was trolling and making confrontational, irrelevant comments on people's pages.

I never cared for sports--but to a certain extent always went along with what my friends wanted to do---as having good friends was very important to me---It was a trade off and I feigned an interest for the sake of having good friends----and have had very close and long friendships----so I am glad i did what I did

I agree, my dad's one of them. He's obsessed with sports; he knows statistics, history and get's way too easily angered by stupid things in the game. I think that's one reason why I hate sports. I also hate it for the annoying fans. The fans that think they actually did something when their team won, and they arrogantly boast, trash streets and pummel fans of opposing teams.

Things like sport do have a masculinity thing to them but we do not all like the same things which is great. i'm a girl & i absolutely love football liverpool is my team, celebrated like mad when we won the carling cup & cried when we lost the FA cup this season. been following the euro2012 like a religion not a girly girl, not a tom boy either. i don't let gender roles define what i like & do not. you must stop worrying about the fact that you don't like sports it just a matter of preferences & has nothing to do with gender.

    • Yet I was bullied all my school life for just that.

      • Then either your school is a rare place to be or all the schools I have been to (I move around a lot) are different from the rest of the world.

You never died from typhus. Does that mean that it is strange and obscure that others have?

          • Well, compared to the ammount of people in the world that haven't died from it, yes it is rare. Am I saying it doesn't happen? No, am I saying it rarely kills people compared to the rest of the human population? No. Just like this situation, I never said it didn't happen, I said it was rare, and compared to the schools that do that, it is rare.

haha, no. it is extremely common for boys to be bullied over lack of interest in sports. hell, even plenty of girls are. I know I was. typhus is not rare. just because you and I are sheltered from it, doesn't mean it is rare.

Would you be offended for me asking an IIN if I can't stand geek culture?

Yeah? Sorry to break it too you, but people have different interest and you're annoying for expecting everyone to hate sports because you do.

    • You are missing the point. I don't expect everyone to hate sports because I do. I denounce the fact that sports freaks are the ones who bully those who don't like them and your comment only confirms what I say. You jocks ALREADY mocked me for being a geek so your creating a thread about hating geeks is nothing original. Go ahead.
