Is it normal i'm self conscious about my job?

my girlfriend is a nurse and her friends are all in the medical field. We all get together on weekends sometimes for birthday occasion or something, but anyway, i get self conscious about what i do for a living, I replace street light poles all over the city that get knocked over by drunk drivers ect. Its dangerous work which intails working with live electricity and heavy broken concrete broken poles. How do people think about this kinda work, or what kind of person does this, does it seem impressive or......?

    Dude, it's a freakin job! It's better than saying you're unemployed or unemployable.

    but im a man who works in industry and got lil patience for the medical fields boner they gots over theyselves
