Is it normal i pray to god to fix the important things?

It seems like any time that I lose hope, or have no idea how to deal with a situation I pray to God. I will ask him to guide me in the steps I take to mend a relationship or a situation. I also pray to God alot about my boyfriend and I. Everynight I ask God to bless our relationship and keep our love strong...I put all of my faith into God, because honestly, he's the only one that I trust to make it all happen. I actually cannot go to sleep at night unless I have said my prayers.

Relying on someone is the worst thing to do.

The poster above ms is an idiot. My life is not empty because I don't have an imaginary friend like they do. I'm sorry that I make rational, logical judgements by myself without without depending on whether or not I'm pissing off some invisible man in the sky. Religion is the worst thing that ever happened to mankind, it has fueled more wars than any other reason. Stop being a brainwashed puppet and control your own life, direct yourself!!

Religion is evil! God/Jesus is not! Big difference, if you were smart enough to realize it. What do you miss by following Him? HELL!

    Nothing fails like prayer

God does only what is in his plan

Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." (Matthew 17:20)

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." (John 14:13-14)

If this were true, then whatever you asked in his name he would do. We know this is false, or the world would be a much nicer place. Even Christians can't take these scriptures literally. The believer will explain this away by saying: "We may pray to God for anything and he will do it-if it is in God's plan." By this logic, we can pray all we want; God will do only what he has previously decided. Why pray at all? Whatever is going to happen will happen, with or without prayers.

Prayer has a history of failure

" I'm praying that I get this new promotion."

" Uncle Bill is sick in the hospital. Let's pray he gets well soon."

" We're having money problems. Let's pray God will help us."

In the above examples, humans are asking God to answer common prayers. However, during the Holocaust, Jewish families frantically prayed to God to be saved from the Nazis, only to watch their families and friends be arrested and massacred in front of their eyes. If God did not answer those prayers, why should we expect him to respond to more trivial requests?

If God is real, he has a history of not answering prayers when it counts.

You don't deserve all the thumbs down; so that's why I gave you a thumbs up. You prove a very good point. Some questions in there that I'd love to hear the Catholics priests answer!

Err good luck with the praying thing. Physically, it's about as useful as drinking your own piss. However, if it gives yet emotional courage to face life in this big bad world, knock yourself out. The Catholic order that are into self flagelation cracks me up but at least they're punishing themselves for being God botherers.

Definition for mediator:a negotiator who acts as a link between parties.

For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. This is 1 Timothy 2:5. It sounds to me like alot of the people on here don't know Jesus, but they still think God should listen to them and be their own personal go to man. What they DO NOT realize is that God CANNOT answer their prayers if they don't except Jesus as Lord of their life. For all those non-believers, if your hearts weren't so hard and feeled with hate, there might still be hope for you to have an answered prayer.

I think this is such a beautiful subject! I think of God like my own father when I pray....such a proud God would love to hear from you any time about anything as you would if your a father....."True love was the moment before thought"

Why is it that christians only pray for things that immediately affect only them?...things that they ultimately have control over anyway. If your god is so great, why would you think he'd put aside world famine, disasters, war just to make sure you and your boyfriend are in love...

My son just responded to this post by saying God is a cunt because his born again mum said his dog didn't recover from Strychnine bating after much prayer because it was God's Will.

  • no offence but one of gods greatest gifts was choice if we do something and ask him to fix it then we think its ok to make the bad choices and ask him to fix it

Ha ha. Get some of those magical Pentecostal hoops and pass all your food through it and your entire body at least 1 time a day. Don't forget to sing praises to The baby Jesus while pointing your naked cakehole at the sun. Should be cured, so go about your normal business.

It's ALL about faith my dear! I 'poster's' several comments above have none, and their lives are empty. I fell away myself after living with Christ while young. But started to doubt, and sin entered my life, and I've been miserable since. So, you're doing the RIGHT Godly thing! Do not stray from His path for nothing. Good luck.
